In my previous order Steve threw in a new usb pass. There is a much easier drag(almost feels like theres a hole in it), it feels lighter physically and I do not get as much vapor production. Has this happened for anyone else?

On a new passthrough (or even a new battery sometimes) you'll feel it stop before it should have stopped. if you hold the battery/cartomizer up to the light and look, there should be no gap, or a very minimal gap, between the battery and cartomizer.

The reason this occurs is that the battery center contact (same as passthrough) has slots cut in it, and so does the cartomizer. These slots are for airflow, but sometimes they kind of get hung on each other. When this occurs you get super light draw (rediculously so) and occasionally poor battery contact (lower vapor production).

Gently screw the cartomizer down a little further, you should feel more of a positive stop when it lands home, rather than an increasing resistance...kind of like screwing on a soda cap..there's a stop. Don't over tighten, but dont treat it like its made of blown glass either.

This rarely occurs on a more used and broken in battery (or passthrough) although sometimes a new cartomizer may have machining marks or burrs which cause it initially on its first use.

Hope that helps,
Larry

not nit picking or anything maybe you didn't read the entire thread or maybe you feel that your explanation was better than mine since you said it with more words... again maybe you didn't read the entire thread to realized that blooper did my or should i say YOURS and it fixed the problem.....

don't mean to be a Richard, but it just amazing that there are a bit of posters out there like that.....

Honestly keep posting and helping (which you probably would do anyway since who am I really) I am only making an observation that's all
I am strange like that.

Props though still a very articulate post

While on the subject of pass throughs :) Can anyone who has used both types (usb passthrough and usb passthrough with battery) tell me if the straight passthrough without battery is better? I have a 510 battery passthough and I am not real impressed. I am getting a battery passthrough with my Vapor King Ultimate Ulimatan starter kit from VFL. I considered ordering the passthrough without battery because I had heard they are better, but decided to wait and see how the one that comes with the kit works.

Any opinions on usb passthrough with battery vs without battery?

Thanks
Jen

THE ULTIMATE ULTIMATUM VAPOR KING KIT WITH PORTABLE CHARGING CASE-BLACK
2 BATTERY'S-YOUR CHOICE OF 6 COLORS
1 USB BATTERY PASSTHRU-BLUE
1 CARRY CASE-YOU CHOICE OF COLOR
1 VK USB CHARGER
1 VK Wall CHARGER
1 BOX OF 5 VK CARTOMIZERS-YOUR CHOICE OF FLAVOR

The above listed "battery passthrough" indicates that it replaces the "battery" you'd normally use on your VK with a USB passthrough. These passthroughs are basically a hollowed out battery with only the components necessary to vape left in. They are lighter than a battery, and use your USB voltage in place of the battery voltage. There is no annoying battery thats heavy as heck in the middle of the cord, that eventually needs replacing. Very simple, very durable.

I have two of the passthroughs.. and they work about 1.5x as good as a battery (standard VK battery)..

They really plow down the vapor.

In my opinion the passthrough really hits the happy spot, enough current to really make the cartomizer hop, not so much that it turns ugly like many 6v devices do.. They run on USB power (rated at 5.0v) and put out closer to 4.2(your mileage may vary)v.

I would almost bet that he started to call it a "Passthrough battery" but was afraid people would think it was a battery for a passthrough, such as found with a 510 passthrough, and settled on "Battery-Passthrough". In retrospect it might have been simpler and/or clearer to call it a "USB Passthrough" and be done with it hehe.

Lots of vapor while retaining the flavor. Thats what I think of it, ask around for a broader view.

Really? The USB passthrough that I have for the 510 has a battary attached to it - a rechargeable AA I think - then it attaches to the "empty" battery case. I thought there were two different kinds of passthroughs. One with an actually battery like my 510, and one that fed directly from the USA bot the empty batter case of the ecig.

I really wish Wednesday would come! I am dying to try this!!!! :)

Most 510 passthroughs do have what's called an "inline" battery. This is the seperate battery that is being charged via the usb. I think in these, the passthrough draws from the battery, and the battery charges from the USB Port. The difference with 901/808 style passthroughs (at least all the ones I have) are just a tube that looks like a battery that is powered directly from the USB. So in effect, you look like you are smoking an 808 with a wire hanging out the end. I love my passthrough and I am investigating portable power sources for it so I can use it even more often! You are going to love it, I can almost guarantee it!

It does sound like the wording on the site could confuse someone who has used an in-line USB battery. Maybe it should be called a USB Battery bypass through.:)

Not only that, but on the two starter kits, it says battery passthrough, and purchasing it alone it says passthrough. Being used to a pass through with a battery, but hearing the ones without the inline battery was better, I thought maybe the kits came with inline battery and buying it alone you get the the better one without the inline battery. What can I say? True blonde here!

I am glad i havent run into a passthrough with an inline battery, I really do enjoy the passthrough's soo much. Keep in mind JenJen, they tend to kill a cart faster, some have recommended taking it easy on these, as chain vaping consecutively with long draws might burn a cartomizer. As you should with all carts when the vapor and flavor die out its time to refill or change cartomizers. I keep my cartomizers wet, and havent run into burning yet.

Thanks for the tip! ;) Really looking forward to getting this into my hot little hands! In the meantime, my 510 will hold me...

none of the VK/901 passthroughs have a battery because USB current is enough. 510's atty draws an insane amount of current, and some USB's werent able to supply the power. The manufacturer saw this comming and created the passthrough with a battery inline so that in effect, the usb is charging the battery and the battery is runnin the passthrough..much like your auto's alternator charges the battery and the battery powers the lights as you go down the road.

Yeah its like a battery after Tim the Toolman got ahold of it...greatly increased vapor production, manly manly grunts ensue..but if you breathe through it, you might wanna go a little easier on it. I tend to actually go easier on it cause less drags do the job much faster.
