You can order everything you would need to get started from Mad Vapes. You can even get "mod kits" which contain all the pieces you would need to get started and practice. I'm planning on placing an order and having shipped to my US address soon, I never handled a soldering iron in my life so this should prove to be an interesting experience :)

without mass production "cheap" is not and option, and mass production requires a product that can compete with the already mass produced hardware. build mods for the love of building for your own enjoyment. I have always felt some sense of accomplishment and pride after i finish a project, it makes the vape that much sweeter.

Im still learning, ive been studying modders forum, built my first passthrough lastnite, so its a start, and im not shooting for too advance, something good quality and inexpensive like plastic box mods with my own twist, i mean if u are canadian and see a decently priced quality box mod wouldnt u rather buy that then order from states and wait forever? Just my opinion, im a convienence type guy, im sure theres more out there like me

There may be a niche market in steampunk mods. There are a few threads on ECF with Interest in that. Seems like it'd be a natural adaptation to vaping given the literal inherent aspect of steam/vapor even though steam isn't an actual component of steampunk genre. More the thing about hand making a moving parts contraption with metal, screws, etc and original design.

What is steampunk?

jason... its an entire subculture based on the combined concept of Victorian era design crossed with advanced technology based on the steamengine.

its sexy as hell if done right... ugly as hell if done wrong... if done right it the cogs and pipes look like they could make it do something amazing... if done wrong, it looks like you left your device in a pool of hotglue and pocketwatch parts...

Lemony Snicket, hadn't thought of that Cactusgirl, but yeah that's very steampunkish.

There is an ecf member from Poland has done a few steampunk type mods:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/150369-brass-blunt.html and http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/117481-brass-booster.html - worth a look at least.

And another example to demonstate what steam punk is (a usb drive for about $250) 8GB Steampunk USB drive is a functional art prodigy.

I believe steampunk is the "new" anime but that's a guess and could be way off base.

    in a cave, eh?
Steampunk is advanced weapons, gadgets and machines imagined as implemented using Victorian-era technology, i.e. steam engines, clock gears and springs, etc.

If you've seen the film Wild, Wild West with Wil Smith and Kevin Kline, that's a good examples of steampunk there.

    Eg: Steampunk Star Wars

And regarding the mod idea. Good luck with that. Nice features to have would be:

    1. regulated variable voltage
    2. voltage indicator
    3. juice feeder with catch cup, or
    4. juice-box style with storage to hide extra juice or even a MAP tank or Gummy Tank when not in use.
    5. durable construction, i.e. metal box with smooth corners.
    6. USB passthrough socket for charging batteries in mod
