Hey all, 5 days so far with no analogs =D, loving my Inferno.

Anyway, I just got in some juice from mist stix. They had a nice deal on their "mystery" juice, and being my first time ordering liquid, I just had to try it out. I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase and am starting to refill my own carts. I eventually want to start making my own juices, but I'm dealing with the learning curve atm and just enjoying the experience of vaping instead of smoking.

The juices I got are two 30ml 24mg tobacco flavors. Every once in a while I get a slightly harsh hit which is fine. I did some reading on here and saw some people mentioning that you can cut it with VG. I started thinking about experimenting with doing that, not only to make it smoother but make it last longer. I think that will get me a little closer to being able to DIY as well.

I would appreciate any input/tips on doing it, being a noob and all. :p I'm also working with a very limited budget so I would like to know what equipment to start collecting when I can afford it. Perhaps some of you have extra stuff stashed away that you'd be willing to part with relatively cheap?

Welcome and congratulations, you are doing very well. If you are not getting symptoms of the nic being too high I would recommend that you do not dilute your juice with vg, it will lower the nicotine level and you might start craving cigarettes again. The harsh throat hits could be just when your atty is too dry and you need to add more juice.
As for picking up things to DIY, you can start by picking up some latex gloves and humco glycerin (skin protectent) that is vg, that is the brand that walmart carries and is near the alcohol and peroxide area. A tackle box to keep your kit in is also advisable. Check out One Stop DIY Shop and see their kit and also check out their measuring items to see if you want to go the kit or ala carte route. However I don't recommend DIY until you have tried several juices from vendors so you know what works for you and what flavors you prefer.

I had to lower the nicotine level, as I was getting headaches, you will also dilute the flavor. It was no problem for me, as I also found the flavour too intense.

Gloves are a must. I recommend nitrile.

Shot glasses make good mixing containers for small amounts

Measure everything - use syringes 1, 3, and 10 ml Oral syringes are available often at no cost from your pharmacy.

Propylene Glycol is often available from your local pharmacy as well

Pour a small amount of VG or other stock liquid into a shot glass for use. Discard any leftovers. Don't return possibly contaminated product to your stock jar.

Add flavour if you need to. The basic flavours can be found in the Baking Goods section of your grocery store. Check the ingredients for suitability.

Work with small lots (5 ml finished product) to start. When you have a mix you find acceptable, you can make a larger lot.

Cut your flavouring with your base solution (PG/VG) to about 20% of its original strength. Use this diluted flavour for your small lots.

If you use a syringe with a needle at any point in your process, be extremely careful.

Most Important: Take copious notes on everything you do!

What? Like flavor extracts one bakes with? Are those ok to use? Really? What ingredients do I want to avoid? How cool!!!!

Use water or alcohol based flavours, avoid oil based ones.
There are several things to be avoided when picking the flavorings and I think it's not particularly good advice to just tell a newbie to go to the food flavoring aisle (I know this wasn't you). There is a lot of really good information contained in the stickies in the DIY forum that would be helpful in choosing the appropriate flavorings. In addition to the oil based ones, you want to avoid anything that has sugar or gum in them. Some of the flavorings are indeed okay- although I would check out the ones in the candy making aisle, sometimes found at Walmart but also at Michaels and other craft stores. The ones in the baking section even if they are appropriate ingredient wise are usually not very concentrated.

im scared to mix my own stuff. im afraid ill do it wrong lol

Same here, I just started vaping on Mon :) Have 2 30ml bottles on hand and 2 more on the way along with about 10 prefilled carts, I think I'm set for a little while to just kick back and enjoy looking at my bag of tobacco I used to roll with while I vape.
