Whats the warranty on the product? ( I just asked this in the official thread - awaiting answer) http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/liberty-flights/264976-lava-tube-vv-stock-now.html

I ask because I have not seen a warranty as good as Volcanoecigs warranty for their branded LavaTube. Volcanoecigs offer a standard year warranty. All other vendors selling the unbranded "LavaTube" have much less warranties. I have seen 6 months, 3 months and one month. I went with Volcanoecigs because I had a charger already - didn't need the kit and the unit itself was just over 60 dollars with shipping. Spent 10 dollars for an AW battery elsewhere. It might make a difference to you to buy from someone with a longer warranty.

About the batteries and chargers.

As I understand it Volcanoecigs got rid of their old stock of batteries because They were told these were AW branded batteries and advertised them as such - then they discovered they were not in fact AW batteries. If they had never advertised them as AW there would have been no problem. AW itself Does Not Make batteries (as I understand it) A.W. are the initials for a guy who makes popular protection circuits. He takes a standard Generic battery, (like Panasonic) slaps his protection circuit on it and puts a red wrapper around it with an AW sticker.

Most people that have used the generic "fake" batteries are happy with them and see little or no difference in the batteries and an AW performance wise. The only thing that makes AW special is the protection circuit is trusted by lots of people.

I don't know what batteries LF is using but if they are not AW, don't worry too much about it because the LT already has a good built in protection circuit as well as the vent hole at the bottom. However, this is where one might want the longest warranty money can buy.

I use a charger that's even cheaper than the charger that comes in the kit. I use a 7 dollar charger from MadVapes and it works perfectly. If you already have even a cheap charger that fits 18650's this will work fine and you can save some bucks.

Just for clarification, JP, AW IMR (and all IMR batteries for that matter) are unprotected. LiMN is a "safer chemistry" battery.

I know. I was just making the point that it's what AW brand is known for and the LT has built in protection so people should not worry so much about it. People make too big a deal over if the battery is AW brand or not. It may be that AW does make some of their batteries like the IMR's. I don't know.

I buy batteries from lots of companies in China mostly lithium iron phosphate batteries for my e-bike. Some of the most respected companies and trusted batteries believe it or not use and come wrapped in cardboard and duct tape. How would you feel about a battery made with cardboard and duct tape? E-bike people use a lot of cheaper companies because China is the largest lithium battery producer on the planet and exporting costs for then get very expensive. You get to know who makes a quality product even if it's not a shiny production model. One battery can easily cost you 600 dollars but the same quality battery half that price from a smaller company that cannot afford to use the more expensive materials.

There is really no official regulation, no standards in China to speak of so people spread the word around on which companies they like and have good products. This is where AW gets all it's interest.

Fair enough... It's just that you said:

The red AW's are IMR. The protected AW's are black and silver, AFAIK. Just didn't want anyone getting confused is all (including myself :D).

ImYourSalt posted about warranty info in the LF forum.

Sorry about that. I thought the warranty info was up. Abe listed these... and I will need to verify this with him. At least one or two months Im sure. I wont be able to get a hold of Abe until manana...

in the meantime, if you want to order, i will honor a one month warranty. If we extend the warranty, I will honor the extended warranty. If for some reason the warranty is less, I will still honor the 1 month warranty (provided you order between now and then). This covers manufacturing defects, and hardware failures, it does not cover user error (dropping, cross threading, using the wrong batteries, etc...)

For their sake I certainly hope it's going to be more than one or two months.

Mine just arrived today and I'm happy with it. It feels nicer than I expected and seems to be a solid unit. I've only been using it for about an hour and my only gripe is that the cap doesn't go on all the way with an 18650. I knew that prior to buying so I can't ..... about that too much though.

As for the warranty, it's a $50 mod made in China. I didn't buy it expecting it to last forever. I figure if there are no problems in the first couple months of ownership it will probably be fine. Even if it dies after 4-5 months I really won't care since it only comes out to $10 a month or so spent on it. My MV 3.7V box mod only lasted a few months and I wasn't surprised. It was cheap, wasn't the best made thing out there and finally quit working. I got more than my money's worth out of it.

If LF is only offering a one or two month warranty, it's a no brainer to buy from Appolo with a one year warranty.

https://www.apolloecigs.com/product_p/atube.htm

59.99 for the whole kit with a 2200 mah battery and a 1 year warranty is a nice deal.

Update: Liberty Flights will offer a 3 month warranty.
Speaking with Abe... and we are going to offer a 3 moth, full replacement warranty for the LT VV. And as always, if goods are found to be faulty, and we're notified within 14 days of purchase, you wont be required to return them, until after you've received your replacement(s).

I tried to add the warranty to the website... but for some reason it is not reflecting the update. Abe will need to look into this.
