life insurance. I am still listed as a smoker. I want to renew mine, I no longer smoke. (for many years now)
Now, what do you tell the Life Insurance people?
My wife insists to say I use ecigs, I disagree.
The insurance company mentions "tobacco products", I don't USE tobacco products.
So I say tell them nothing.
Who agrees with me?

Unless otherwise stated it's not a tobacco product but, it would fall under a nicotine product (at least in State Farm's eyes). I doubt they'll even care, once the FDA regulates you'll want to tell them then and they might have a better idea of what they are doing then and how it fits in the contract.

You should be insured even if you smoke. Heathcare is crazy expensive in America and we don't even get nice relaxing vacations like they do in Europe. So this leads to all kinds of habits people need to help them relax like smoking, vaping, getting high, eating Micky D. Say whatever you have to say. So people like you and I choose healthier forms of relaxation. We vape. Maybe we even eat healthy. They could also disagree with how you eat, even if your research is better than the FDA, they could say all kinds of things. So you just say whatever you have to say. You need your health insurance.

Life insurance still considers vaping the same as smoking. If they test you the nicotene shows in the test. That's all they care about right now. The best thing to do is to be honest. If you buy as a non-smoker and they determine you used nicotene they can weasel out of paying a claim. Sorry that's just the way it is.

There are some health insurances that consider a vapor a non-smoker, but I believe even these are few and far between.

You're a non-smoker; that's all they need to know. So, technically the answer is "no, you don't use tobacco products." Unless, the insurance company changes its terminology or the state in which you live officially lists e-cigarettes as a tobacco product (check the statutes), you're not misrepresenting yourself in any legal way. When it comes to insurance companies, tell them as little as possible without running the risk of fraudulent misrepresentation. You don't need to give them a reason to weasel out of the payout to your loved ones when you depart the living.

However, if there's a physical with blood work involved, they will see the nicotine in your system. Then, you risk being denied for coverage. Tough call.

You are a smoker in their eyes no matter how you slice it. They don't normally differentiate between cigs, snus, vaping, it's all nicotine products. Unless your nicotine product is part of an FDA approved quit-smoking program (temporary use of gum, patches, etc) they won't consider vaping any different than say, smoking cloves. In the end, if they test for nic you don't want to be caught with your pants down. So my two cents, tell them you're a smoker. If they CARE about additional comments, add the part about vaping but that's for your benefit not theirs. Of course none of this applies if you manage to use vaping to QUIT nicotine for good, which means quitting vaping (lets be real, nobody cares about 0mg or uses it), then you can totally be listed as a NON-SMOKER with all the perks that come with it, lower premiums and what-not.
