Does anyone familiar with this charger know if it is good at telling me if my 18650's should be retired or not. I have one on the way from China and wanted to use it to check some year old hg2's I have and was wondering if the capacity check feature is useful at telling me if my batteries are shot or not. Also would it be good at telling me what batteries are similar in usage that I can marry. I'm already married 2x2 batteries that I used to use in a single mod for about 9 months but I'm hoping this charger will tell me if they are close in capabilities. So my question is did I get the right charger for my needs? Mooch I'm looking at you :2c:

Ok so after more research I found this lygte-info.dk site and he reviews chargers and batteries as well as flashlights. It seems I made a good choice with the liitokala. It's analysis feature works well for telling battery capacity so anyone interested in getting a new charger should check out this site because he does great in depth reviews on the equipment we use.

Capacity doesn't tell the whole story. There's also the question of internal resistance, which changes as a cell ages.

I don't use multi-cell mods, but if I did, and wanted to marry cells, I'd buy some brand new ones for that purpose.
I have some Samsung 30q's that should be here today for a proper marriage but I just wanted something to give me an idea of how my other cells were doing. I believe the liitokala tests resistance also so I can check that too.

It does, but the resistance test is not very good, which is understandable, since I think the only way to make such a test meaningful is to do it at high current levels, something a $30 charger is not likely to be capable of.
Yea I seen that from this guy lygte's review of the charger. Apparently, like you said, no chargers in this price range do but I think it will do enough to give me an general idea of what shape my older batteries are. Anyway I'll find out in about a month since it's coming from fasttech. Great prices I just hate the wait but that's the price you pay.
