Like pepper in the back of my throat with 18mg

Hey everybody. Just have a quick question. I was a pack a day smoker, so I started ordering a bunch of juice in 18mg strength from various vendors. I've noticed that after a short time vaping 18mg liquid, I get a scratchy uncomfortable feeling in the back of my throat. Almost like the feeling you get when you get black pepper stuck to the back of your throat. I don't like it.

I have some samples of HHV that come in 10mg strength, and I don't get this sensation. It's really smooth and velvety. Is it the higher nicotine level that causes this? Because if thats the case, I'm gonna drop my nic level immediately. I have a bunch of 18mg bottles that I don't even wanna touch anymore.

It could be the nic and it could be the PG ratio. You didn't mention what PG/VG ratio you are using. And, it also could be the vendor/flavoring. Some vendors do put some peppery flavoring in their juices to get that "throat hit" some vapers like.

Some vendors use that "peppery" thing to make you think you're vaping a tobacco when you aren't.

I turned my coworker over to vaping. He first tried the 18 mg, and did the same thing to him. I made him 12 mg, and he settled on the lower nic level. I believe new vapers have a hard time with higher nic levels. Every smoker nearly coughs up a lung when they try my 18 mg.

I have samples of juice that are 70/30 and 100% VG both at 18mg. They are both peppery, so I don't think it's the pg/vg ratio. And it's not just a couple flavors. I've been sampling a lot of tobacco flavors, and so far every 18mg tobacco flavor I have leaves that peppery taste in my throat. These samples are from alien visions as well as vermillion river. The only one that doesn't is dark horse and gandolf from HHV which is 70/30 at 10mg of nicotine. Thats what leads me to believe that it's the nic level that is causing the peppery condition.

It certainly could be the nic, then. You are probably right. But, I have to tell you that when I first tried Alien Vision's Bobas Bounty, all I could taste was black pepper and that was with only 6 mg nic. I feel pretty confident he uses some sort of peppery something in it besides nic. It seemed to go to the background after a couple weeks, for me.

I've had Boba's at both 18 and 12 mg nic and it was peppery at both levels.

Ok, here is a new development. I took a break. I went to the gym and didn't vape at all for about 2 1/2 hours. When I got back home and started using the same 18mg juice, it was no longer peppery on my throat. Maybe I just went a little heavy this morning and caused irritation. This has happened before during periods when I've been chain vaping. I don't know how some of these people around here chain vape all day. I'm known to do it for an hour or two sometimes, but never all day.

I think a lot of people chain smoked and now also chain vape. Even folks who didn't chain smoke, sometimes start to chain vape, simply because it tastes so good.

Nicotine has a distinct type of irritation. I have prescription nicotine inhalers which deliver unheated nicotine vapor. It is the same exact peppery sensation described in this thread. I can easily tell the difference between a PG TH and a nic TH. Peppery is how I would describe nic. It lingers longer than PG does. Lowering the nic solves undesirable issues with this.
