My understanding they have charge cycle life ie.. 300 charges. So if you charge them early yes you are cutting the life of the battery.

I thought as much. I think the battery would last me two full days but I haven't chanced it. I'm not around an outlet during the day and I didn't want to risk a dead battery, that's why I have been charging every evening. I know it will last two days, when I'm around an outlet, I did it the first weekend I had the mod. I'll try it away from the house and bring a backup just in case. Thanks for the info.

Do lipo batteries have a memory? Am I shortening the life span of the battery by charging it before it shows half gone? Thanks for your help.

LiPO batteries are lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries just like IMR and ICR are. None of these have any memory effect.

Here's a good page from Battery University on how to prolong the life of these batteries. Note table 2: Cycle life as a function of
depth of discharge.

If you always discharge 100%, you get 300 – 500 charge cycles.
If you always discharge 25%, you get 2,000 – 2,500 charge cycles.

So, if you always discharge the battery 1/4 the way and need to charge 4 times as often, you gain 5-7 times the number of charge cycles. Worst case scenario you lost nothing. Best case scenario you gained a bit of battery life.

Thanks for the link. Very informative. Good to know it's better for the battery to leave the house with a full charge.

This ^^^

Don't be afraid of charging early. Also, for long resting periods is better to leave the battery half charged. Letting it stay at 4.2v for extended periods of time will increase the internal resistance, which will lead to increased voltage drop under load.
