Liquids that taste nothing like they should.

Anyone else ever had the experience where they get a new liquid, test it out and find that it tastes absolutely nothing like it's described?
I just got a pleasant surprise. I recently bought a new Joye 510 and I had to get a couple cheap chinese liquids with it. I can tell you, neither taste anything like they are described. The PG "Virginia" flavor tasted like crap and will probably be sitting in a corner waiting until I run out of my good liquid, God forbid that happen. So, as you would expect, I was a little hesitant at trying the second. This second flavor is a VG called "Wenston". So I figure it'll kind of taste like a Winston analog. I was wrong, it tastes just like tea. I hate to say it, but I'll probably have to get some more of this.

If you enjoy a nice menthol analog, check out the mint chocolate flavor from Totally Wicked. I haven't tried any other mint based liquids, but this one is fantastic! Even gives you that cooling sensation that a menthol does, without the gross after taste some menthol cigarettes do, as well as a nice hint of chocolate. I'd highly reccomend you check it out, as well as the other flavors at totally wicked. They are all of great quality and taste great! (except for the plum flavor I got, that one is pretty awful imo. not sure why i thought it'd be good)

I once ordered a chocolate hazelnut that I put up until I got some flavorings to add to it just so I could vape it. Welcome to ECF Keillor.

Oops, happens to us all. Some ppl say plum tastes like Dr Pepper. Are you picking any of that taste up?

Welcome to ECF jsand. Happy vaping to both of you.

The two I've had that taste the least like they are supposed to are the "Mighty Menthol" from Johnson Creek and the "Dark tobacco" from Revolver.

Both of them are actually very good, but taste nothing like I expected.

Mighty Menthol doesn't have the slightest hint of menthol. Instead it simply tastes like mint gum.

Dark Tobacco tastes like a dark maple syrup with the slightest hint of tobacco. VERY sweet.

Yeah - it happens - even the ones that taste like they are supposed to to OTHERS may not taste like it to YOU. taste is subjective - take 100 people and offer them something to eat drink or vape and you'll get lots of different 'this is what it tastes like' reports. Maybe some are the same, but not all will be. Also some liquids really DON'T taste the way they are labelled - to anyone, but those are the little blips many of us go through in our search for our faves.
Gotta kiss alot of frogs before you find a prince - same applies to vaping :)

I've had really good luck with juice, but I've stuck with USA manufacturers and didn't purchase any tobacco flavors until last week when I found Backwoods Brew, who has amazing tobaccos that taste like the tob leaf smells. Yummy.

My best advice for a new vaper is to get juice that isn't a tobacco flavor, for a lot of reasons, but the most important one is that you're never, ever, ever going to find the flavor that tastes like your cigs...or even all that close to a cig. The ones that do taste like garbage.

I must agree in a way, i stayed clear of tobbacco flavours but mainly because i wanted to not have to go through that stage of when i've tried to give up in the past one slight smell of an analogue would get me craving like mad so i vaped other flavours instead and got used to them with ease, so going out and passing people smoking doesn't start my cravings off anymore.

There are SO many Great juices out there. There is No reason to vape bad juice. And when you do get your good juice in, remember that some of them need to steep for a week or two. Also, your tastebuds will recover and things will taste differently as you go on. Read up on the juice reviews section. Email the juce vendors, most are willing to go the extra mile and help with suggestions for what you are looking for in taste. Finding the right juice is probably the hardest part of vaping. But look at it as an adventure and it will be a fun journey.

Hey Keillor, in re your original post #1, you can order flavoring drops only and fix up the unvapeables a little. No need to shelf something you don't like unless it is just total yuk. You can also use flavorings to spice up ones that are losing their flavor for various reasons. Flavoring I could recommend is capellaflavordrops.com or Lorannoils.com. It takes only 2-3 drops, and Cap's is only $6 for 13ml + free shipping (limited time special). The best thing is that they are USP grade. I don't buy juice, I make my own w/all USP grade ingred., but I won't go there now, as that's a whole 'nother story and off topic, LOL. Happy vaping.

My group just started having vaping parties. Juice flavorings are so subjective we've found that someone in our little group will like it no matter what so we've started keeping a log of good/bad what company and who in our group likes something. We also have one guy that has taken up mixology to get our juice combo's more stable. It works out and you don't have to spend so much money trying to find juices you like if you get a good group to to try things out with... one word of warning... avoid the bacon! out of 8 of us nobody could stand it and 7 atty's got thrown away because of lingering taste.
