You want that .5ohm from single coil or dual coil or twisted wire or parallel wire. You want a hot vape, warm or cool. you want flavor or vapor.
Use the Steam engine links above to model .5ohm coils using different gauges of wire and build types. Fact is you can make a .5ohm BUILD from just about any size wire. Best is going to based on your preference NOT mine.

Thicker wire has a lower resistance, so to achieve resistance 'X' will involve more wire and have more surface area (potentially more vapors). It will also take longer to heat up and cool down (ramp up/down time).
Thinner wire has the opposite properties.
You could achieve 0.5 ohms using 1.6 wraps with 30 guage wire, but obviously that would work very well. Conversely, 15 wraps of 20 guage wouldn't fit and would take about 10 minutes to heat up
For a single coil at 0.5 ohms I would use 7 wraps of 24 guage with a 2mm internal diameter.

Just single coil no twisting for now lol and then dual coil for bigger clouds.i generally use it about 30+ with 90%vg juice 6mg nicotine.cheers
In that case I'd be about where SonicBomb is 24, 25, 26 or 27 awg wire. I suppose.
I prefer building and vaping single coils. I also lean to flavor before clouds. So I tend to twist smaller wires before going for a heavier gauge. the nooks and cranies of twisted wire make more flavor, imo.

Vary your wire gauges. TemCo on Amazon has 100ft spools for cheap. Get kanthal and Nichrome 80 (N80) to see what you like to build with better. Nichrome is a little bit more flexible and easier to manipulate and has a faster ramp up time, but also comes in at a lower resistance per gauge. I'd say get some 24g, 26g, 28g, & maybe some 30g Kanthal/N80 to start out with.
