So for whoever is interested. My first post can be found here.
In short, I've been a smoker for 15 years. Most of the time about one pack a day, since I got married got it down to about 7 a day (my wife hates smoking).
Tried a cheap e-cigarette a year and a half ago. That was a leaking piece of crap, so I tossed it and went back to smoking. Have tried quitting 8 times, but eventually always started smoking again.
And then I became a member on this forum to see what options were out there, and ZeroOhms recommended the Kangertech Evod.
ZeroOhms, if you are reading this: THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I have not smoked a real cigarette since a week and a half. I have been vaping on my Evod.
The first juice I ordered was tobacco flavored Evo. That was not half-bad, but it did have a chemically/burning aftertaste upon exhale.
So I splurged a little and bought a bottle of 24mg nicotine "Tobacco Pure" from Volcano. Wow, I am happy now. Pretty much tastes like the "real" thing.
So far this has been my experience:
- The first few days when I was only vaping I had a sore throat and a stuffy nose. Almost like getting a cold. This apparently is normal.
- At day three I went through what felt like some serious nicotine/cigarette withdrawals. I was day dreaming about cigarettes and felt anxious. Tingling in my fingers, and was very irritated at work. The vaping did not entirely fill the void, but got me through it. A week and a half have passed and I'm over it now. Would I not have had my vaporizer, I'd be smoking again now.
-at work I vape outside, as I did during my normal quick smoke breaks. I haven't asked my boss about vaping in the office, because:
- My wife says she gets a head ache from the vapor. She prefers me not vaping right next to her on the couch. Apparently vaping should be treated like real smoking in that regard: it can irritate people. I would never vape in a restaurant or any other venue where smoking is not allowed for this reason. When I'm home alone I vape in the living room, but when my wife gets home I take it to the kitchen.
- I felt kind of silly the first couple of days, standing outside with my vaporizer. I am over that now though...
- The Kangertech Evod had some problems in the beginning with a lot of gurgling and juice leaking out. Found a fix online that says to take off the rubber washer at the bottom of the atomizer and put it back upside down. That helped. No more gurgling.
- I go through a little less that 1ml a day of juice. After I got married I only smoked 7 cigarettes a day anyway. I do thoroughly clean the Evod every night when I refill it. I take the atomizer apart and clean the bottom out where the wick is. Otherwise it sometimes starts gurgling again.
All in all I am a happy camper! Thank you E-cigarette-forum for your awesome advise and for getting me off cigarettes.
Now, I do plan to quit nicotine entirely somewhere in the not too distant future, but for the next couple of months I'm gonna go and stick with vaping...I am planning on slowly reducing the amount of nicotine, and see if I can get it all the way down to 0.
I am so so so so so thrilled about this, I can't even properly put it into words...I finally feel like I can actually beat those nasty cancer sticks once and for all!
THANKS!
