Living the clone life...

I'm sure this question gets asked/answered a lot around the internet, but I was curious if it is completely normal to expect to find clones of popular mech mods/attys in B&M shops vs. their original counterparts. The reason I am asking is because I was able to grab a nemesis clone and a steamboy atty clone from the same shop for under $100. I've been to some shops that also sell originals (really expensive) but it seems like almost 80% of the time they are really good clones with unmarked packaging.

With that being asked, are most originals really only attainable online through places like VapeRev and mfg. websites?

you can find many B&M selling real deal mods and atty's the problem is the prices are usually much more then if you went on the web and got them direct. places like vaperev dont seem to charge too much more (when you remove International shipping) then factory direct. while they do sell the mods to other dealers there isnt much wholesale discount so the prices are usually pretty high even for the dealer, so it's a choice, order 3 or 4 real nemesis and hope they sell for $ 200 ea or for the same amount the dealer spends on those originals get a case of clones @ 15 ea and sell em for 50

you can get a real one and hope you make 20-30 dollars or sell the clones for a 150% mark up and sell a dozen a week.

It's the same reason you don't have a Rolls Royce/Ferrari etc dealership in every town, the demand isn't there. So supply is concentrated on a few sites which get enough volume to exist.

That makes perfect sense, thank you. I have no problem with clones whatsoever unless they are just bad. The ones usually carried by my local shop are consistently good, and the shopkeepers do a good job of explaining the pros/cons. Would be nice if a lot of them carried the originals alongside them just in case you changed your mind and wanted to save the extra bucks and buy the real deal.
