I'm curious of what your local shops sell there products for just as an example kanger evods here in Sioux falls SD go for around $15 on average mini pro tank 2 $23 aspire bdc $13 pro tank 3 $30 vamo v3 kit with 2 18350 batteries and charger $160 evic without batteries $104 just seems outrageous for what you can get these for online liquid seems to be closer the cheapest of tanks go for at least $12 kanger coil heads go for $5 a piece and there knock offs the only last 3 or 4 days till they burn out

A lot of it is based on what kind of supplier(s) they are associated with. At my local vape store, some brands of what they carry are surprisingly close to what I can get on-line, while other brands are right at "MSRP" prices.

I do a mix of on-line and local B&M purchases, despite that I am generally paying higher prices locally. The B&M locations have more overhead and less volume sales after all, and can not prosper/survive on rock-bottom pricing.

As long as they are not charging "rip-off" prices, I actually make it a point of making at least some of my vaping purchases at my local B&M...after all, if you appreciate the convenience of a local store, not to mention the advantage of checking out new gear "live" versus seeing a picture of it, then helping them stay in business seems only reasonable.

I have a vaping friend of mine who ONLY makes purchases from Fast Tech, as he is on a fixed income, and otherwise would have very little vape gear...I absolutely get that! On the other hand, I am content with spending a few more bucks to get "immediate gratification"...I see no right or wrong here, just a matter of perspective.

I do not frequent any of the rip-off pricing vape shops however, and could care less of they disappear!

Miami Here! My local B&M is pretty fair. Honestly though its a demand thing. If people stopped supporting rip off vape shops and starting going to low cost vape shops the trend will change. I try to avoid over priced stores.

Local Miami B&M
Protank 2 & Protank 2 Mini = $15
Protank 3 = $20
Smoktech Magento = 50
eVic = $99
Cool fire 2 = $80

I (mostly) agree with PeteC2... One point of contention for me in the OP - knock offs. If a local B&M sells ANYTHING cloned, fake, or knock off, I won't shop there. I've had my intellectual property ripped off, including my service mark, and it sucks - my only recourse was to sue the retailers carrying them. I hated putting people out of business, but they knew they were getting knock offs when they purchased a USA-made item from China...

I also do a combination of my purchasing on-line and local B&M store, partly because of selection, local B&M store does not always have what i want, but if they do i buy from them, i find there prices to be fair, just a little higher than on-line but if you factor in no shipping cost with instant gratification it is well worth it to support them.

Wow, thats some mark up on that Vamo kit, Evods for more than $8 is a crime and Protanks, a mini 2 for $15 is about normal here. This is why I buy most my stuff online but hey they have every right to mark this stuff up to make a profit, create jobs and all that good stuff, i too can choose to not buy the higher priced mark ups.

However when they have the basic starter kits that they are charging like $50-$60 to sell to new vapors. Say two 650 ego batteries with Two I-clear 16s and charging cord oh and a case, $60? Thats outrageous for new vapors to have to pay such a markup. We need to get people in the door to get off those death sticks and keep a fresh stream of new vapors to keep growing this industry. New vapors turn into us, the people that come here to the forum and spend cash on, well everything, mods and tanks and RBAs and DYI and or juices. We drive the upper and advance market, we are the reason we have mods and DNA30s to start with. We wouldnt be here talking about dropping $300 on a ZNA if we never started vaping cuz it was too expensive. Sorry the local shops, around here anyhow, have a lot of Price adjusting to do to keep this market growing.

The smart ones make their money on consumables. Juice and batts. If they sell decent starter kits at a low price, they keep people coming back for the other two. They can't compete with the high volume purchase power of an online vendor so they don't offer that selection. Best they can do is stick with something that they can buy right and try to price match.

We probably have fairly similar populations, a lot less density up north here. Mine is expensive as well, but having a B&M has a lot of overhead that most online shops don't have. I see about $40 for your typical eGo 650 battery, $55 for a VV, $27 for a Pro-Tank, $17 for an eVod to give you an idea. Juice is $7 for 5ml or around $20 for 30ml. So yeah, it is what it is.

I don't fault them on that, I understand the need to pay the bills and would like to help them with that. My issue with my B&M is that they cater to the noobs (I guess I'm one...but I learn fast...) and really don't have an intention of going beyond that. It's more an issue that I've outgrown them rather than the prices. Still, I'll throw them a few bucks here and there because I want them around in case of emergency.

the mark up at a b&m shop is insane but understandable. i tend to order stuff online unless im willing to pay the "convience fees"
of a b&m item.. the other day i got a RSST and i wanted some ss mesh i ended up getting a ss cable wick kit for 6 bucks it has in it
1 3ft 32g wire
2 3ft 28g wire
3 1 ft ekowool
4 4 in of 3/32 7x7 ss cable
its a starter and i will e-bay some cable and ekowool from now on but its getting me started

I agree with many posters here... shops have to cover more costs. However, I found a "Boutique" in a hair salon that does not have to worry so much about over head and their prices are comparable to online prices. Wish they were closer because I do not always have the time to go there. The closer places are totally hit or miss. In fact, there is one I refuse to go to anymore since they will not quote prices over the phone and their prices change constantly based on their whim I guess. There is another one closer that is sort of mid-high priced but sell true product. They just opened a few months ago and their employees seem a little too indifferent for my tastes. Can get service pretty fast there sometimes then others I stand there waiting for ages while they talk to people sitting on couches vaping. Makes me wonder where their priorities are. Anyway, I am on a tight income and have to order online a lot (that and I have yet to find a juice locally I like) but try to hit the B&M local places for little things or when I happen to have extra cash.

Well I didn't expect so many posts already lol I know about the overheads and the ease of conscience I only order online anymore since we only have 2 dedicated stores and 2 other places that have started selling ecigs in the past year one dedicated shop sells all Chinese clones and liquid for way too much the other sells genuine but rebottles liquid some his mom makes she's a chemist from the mayo clinic I'm just curious of what others have to pay to shop local me I'm on a strict budget so if I can save money well I'm going to do just that
