Long 510 adapter (Real long)

I have seen people using them on line. Those loooong 510 bendy adapter's they look about 8 inches or so long are they a homemade item such as 2 510 adapter's soldered with some electrical wire wrapped in tape? They look cool and would like to purchase it or make it.
