I'd been happily using SmokTech 510 1.7 ohm XL Resurrectors and 1.5-1.6 ohm XL dual coils for many months on all my PVs---tube mods, box mods, VVs, and even some eGo-clone batts (some old 1300mAh Hello 016s, 1100mAh kGos, and 1300mAh eCos from GP, all of which run at 4.1V fresh off the charger, although they do settle back toward 3.7V over time).
Recently, I picked up a couple of 1300mAh ECHO batteries with 510 threading from Health Cabin. They were only $12, so I thought, why not? The description on-site said that they wouldn't work with any atty or carto rated less than 2.0 ohms. I ignored that, thinking it was the usual cover-your-.... disclaimer. Well, turns out that it was true. Both batteries contain inner circuitry that cuts off the power at resistances lower than 2.0. Some Boge LR 2.0 ohm cartos work, but not all (I presume because of the ±0.1 ohms variance in the specs).
I have a couple IKV 2.5 ohm Gold V2 cartos left, plus a stash of Boge SR 3.0 ohm cartos for my 5V regulated boxes, but using those on 4V-or-less batts is like kissing your sister, especially after the hard-hitting vape of Resurrectors or DCs at 4.5 volts on my VVs. I thought about buying some Joye 2.2 ohm cartos, but I'm not a fan of those, since they're a pain to top up. Presently, I'm just using whichever Boge LR 2.0s work. Not the most elegant solution, but workable.
However, I just bought 25 stainless steel pipe filters from eBay, and I'm looking forward to trying the "Bonut mod" with atty dripping. If that works as well as many folks say, I may have to retire some of my cartos and carto-tanks. And so it goes...
