Long Time Dipper Needs Advice

I've been chewing Copenhagen since I was 15, 27 years now. Up until about a year ago, I was at about 3 can's per day. I'm down to about a can and a half a day now but I'd like to quit. I know e-cigs aren't the answer, I should just quit, but that's not going to happen. I've also tried patches, gum, hypnosis, that shot, Valium, etc...no luck.

So, my questions are these: What kind of liquid would be best to get and how much of it would I need? I'm looking to understand if this will be a cheaper alternative to my dipping. Also, are e-cigs not as bad for you as dipping?

I'm thinking of going to the store tomorrow to take a look at purchasing a "system", is that what they're called, the charger and all that stuff? I've only tried a disposable one.

I apologize for the questions, I tried to find answers before I posted, but I didn't find what I was looking for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well we all know that tobacco has cancer causing agents, I am pretty sure there are a lot less harmful chemicals in e juice. The disposables are not extremely beneficial in quiting IMO i had plenty of them and continued to smoke about the same amount. Not really sure how much nic you get when you dip, but id guess around 18mg would be a good place to start and adjust from there?

Google a gall named "MyVapeJuice", she makes some chewing flavored extract from the real thing I do believe.
Iv been using her Cigar extracts for the last month and can hardly wait till I can afford more.

Oh I missread dipper as dripper, I thought you already had some kit. Well, once you get your kit sorted out, thats the place if you want something made from real chew extract. :?)

Hello WhiskeyRiver99,

I was in the same boat as you. I chewed for about 10 years, then quit when the dentist said my gums would appreciate it. I then started smoking and dipping in moderation. Although, quickly found I chewed almost as much i used too, and smoked on top of that. I decided that it was time to quit and I picked up an e cig.

My first set up was a tank type set up like the eGo. I started with 24mg nicotine juice and would vape when the craving came. I used about a small bottle (12ml) a week. The starter kit that I purchased was about $35. Each bottle is about $7-$14 depending on where you go and flavor you buy. Wicks/cartomizers are cheap and come in 2-4 packs ($2-$5) and last about a week to two weeks each. I have been smoke/chew free for about 6 months now and haven't looked back. As far as health concerns, there are many threads you can find.

Hi Whiskey... welcome to the board!!

I Have used Copenhagen for over 30 years (I'm 46) Snuff is a hard nut to crack. I actually smoked and dipped for more than a decade in the military. Dip useres have a higher tolerance for nicotine than average smokers. So for decent equipment to start with (and understand there is a good chance you will pay 40 to 60% in a walk in shop) just get an MVP 2.0 prob gonna run you about $50. this is your battery. It's easy to find, easy to charge and should last you most of the day between charges. The topper (what goes on the battery) is a slippery slope around here... I don't like any of the CE products which is what most shops push (ce3-ce4-ce5s).
An Aspire nautilus mini seems to be the rage right now because a certain reviewer wet his pants over it last month. I'm sure it's awesome and if you can buy one localy do so with a pack of spare coil heads.
Otherwise I would probable stick with tried and true EVODS. Very easy for a new user to get a handle on, inexpensive to maintain, and most places have them now.
OK now the hard part. Since your tolerance is so high (3 cans a day is basically having tobacco in your mouth and nicotine in your system 24/7. I would suggest you get a liquid that will let you feel the effects. Any type of tobacco (American, Red, Perique, Turkish...whatever) in a 50 PG 50 VG blend, with 3.6% nic. 3.6% is considered 36mg of nicotine. This is considered very high but is probably what is required for you to get nic relief in the beginning. Also pic up some 24mg nic for longer vaping.
After you get it all together don't dip for a couple of hours before you vape. Once the cravings are bad... vape the 36... maybe two drags (pulls) in succession. You will feel the nicotine rush or sensation ... this should be what curbs your Copenhagen jones. Take it slow at first just enough to get over the snuff cravings. If you over do it you can get light headed nauseous and a headache...so take it easy at first. Once the nasty cravings subside you can try the 24 mg and vape for longer periods.

Vaping does work! I have not had a cig (not even a puff) in 3 1/2 years. I now vape 18mg on my way down to 12 (hopefully by new years) I DO keep a can of Copenhagen in the freezer. It is for when I work in the yard for long periods of time. I have bought a total of 2 cans (THIS YEAR) so it's much more of a "fine cigar) type of thing for me now and not a constant unrelenting addiction like it was for most of my adult life. Plus your family will love the absence of spit cans and bottles...

If you need any advise please pm me. American snuff is some of the hardest stuff to ween off of. (way harder than cigs IMO) I feel your pain. Good luck!!!

Don
