I have been reading this forum for some time now and finally became a member. I retired from the US Air Force about 2 years ago after serving 26 years. Now I work for Lockheed Martin, contracted out as a consultant. In my spare time ( I use the term 'spare' lightly) I am a girls fastpitch softball coach. I have been coaching for about 15 years and currently coach a Varsity High School team and a club travel team.

I have been vaping for about 6 months now and truly enjoy it. I was a pack to pack and a half smoker for about 27 years. Like most here, vaping is saving my life. I can't even count how many times I have tried to quit smoking. Everything from the patch, to Zyban, to Chantex, to nicotine mints. I would quit for a couple of months, but always fell off the wagon. The problem is, as most here can attest to, I really enjoyed the act of smoking. The ritual of it. I started off with buying the gas station ecigs, mostly to help me with cravings in between smokes. Then I got a eGo-VV V3 Mega battery and a kanger protank 3. My wife, who also smokes, liked mine so I bought her the same setup. Now we have 4 batteries and about 5 protank 3. I have started researching my own build (DNA30, Sx350, or maybe a Raptor) and/or getting a couple of nice mechs.

Welcome the the boards, Spiceman! And from one ex-military man to another, thank you for your service! I was a squid for 9 years working on F/A-18 Hornets...
Congrats on making the switch and on getting your wife to follow! I've been vaping for around 5 years now and haven't looked back, I find that I enjoy it way more than cigarettes... just so many more options, and it satisfies my tinkering need! Hope to see you around :D

Sounds like an interesting life, I'm glad you found something to keep you from smoking. Thank you for your service and welcome to ECF!

I'm sure you'll have tons of fun building your own devices if you work at Lockheed Martin... Shoot, get some work buddies into it and I bet you'll be producing more vapor than an F-35!

to ecf Spiceman1967. So glad you are here and let me first of all thank you for your service to the country. I would not be wrong in saying I think it has saved my life too. Vaping is so wonderful. It is the only thing out of years of trying that has worked for me. Good luck to you and happy vaping. :)

Welcome spiceman1967. Our stories parallel in so many ways. Smoked 45 years and also tried everything known to mankind to quit and nothing worked for very long, usually just days. I like your term " the ritual of "! That so sums up my problem of quitting. Only been vaping and not smoking a little over 2 weeks and every once in a while the " ritual " bites me in the .... and makes me miss smoking. Mine were, first smoke in the morning, after eating, stressful situations, etc. Best of luck to you and yours, stay clean and enjoy life.
