I want to vape because we all know the side effects with smoking. I figure I could vape and that would help with this fibromyalgia and CFS pain. I believe it will! I want to hear thoughts and suggestions whether they are good, bad,or indifferent. I have a few questions; what are OHMs, RBC's and mods? How does one learn to make coils? Is double coiled better than single and why? What other resources can I use to expand my knowledge of vaping?

You came to the right place. There are many helpful people here who will point you in the right direction and will be able to help you with specific questions. At the top of this forum you will see a sub-forum called New Member Information, it has a ton of helpful posts like "What are mods?" and the other topics you mention you. As you explore and narrow you choices/decisions on things to try/buy/etc people here will gladly offer you their experiences and opinions on those. I haven't started building coils yet, but youtube seems to be a great option for learning how to make them as people on their build them in realtime while describing the process and most times you feel like you could just follow right along if you had the tools/materials they are using. Some are better at describing the process, other at showing the process. When you find a specific coil type you would like to try, I'd suggest searching youtube for that exact type and you'll find a handful of people with videos posted on how to do it so you can get multiple perspectives on the same item. Hope that helps, and enjoy the wonderful journey that is vaping!

Hello, and welcome.

I also have CFS/fibro. I have switched from smoking to vaping about 2 months ago now. Personally I'm not finding it's had much effect on my illness. Although I have noticed other positive effects like breathing more clearly and having improved sense of smell and taste. And of course avoiding many of the health risks associated with smoking. We're all different though, and hopefully it can help you, and I'm still really pleased I gave up smoking.

Your best bet may be to get a cheap starter kit and see how you get on, decide what more you might want from it, and research from there. You could waste all this time researching other people's best vape ever, when it might be better to just get on with it and find out what YOU like instead.

Here's a link to 'One Stop Reference Shop For New and Experienced Vapers'. I think you will find answers to all your questions there.

Good luck with it :)

1: What are OHMs, RBC's and MODs?
Ohms: electrical resistance.
RBC's: ? RBA = RebuildAble Atomizer
MOD's: Modified flashlight tube - battery holder.

2: How does one learn to make coils?
Buy kanthal and wrap it.

3: Is double coiled better than single and why?
Dual coil means 2 coils in parallel so it's like vaping twice but at the same time.
It makes more fog.
It uses up eliquid faster.
It drains your battery faster.

4: Resources to expand knowledge:
You're in the right place.
Check Baditude's blog.
