Hi all,

So i just bought my Kanger Protank3 dual coil setup, and come to find out that my ego-c twist battery (3.2-4.8V) doesn't deliver enough power to the dual coil atty's that came with my PT3.

I tried it out on my ego, and the vape was total weaksauce and wondered whats up(this was before i found out the ego batts aren't good enough).

To remedy this depressing performing new product, i grabbed a single coil atty from my PT2 mini and rewicked it with a cotton flavor wick and silica in the coil and am using it in my Protank 3. NOW IT WORKS WELL :D

Should I even care about getting a bigger better battery down the road so as to be able to use my Protank 3 dual coil system to its potential ... OR ... should I just settle with using single coil attys for the time being?

I'm personally leaning towards the later, since I haven't really gotten to see the "hype" of dual coil atty's being used to their potential.

Please feel free to weigh in

I'm using the PT3 on a Kanger Evod VV battery with no problems...but it does work better on the MVP2 (which is inexpensive, long-lasting VV/VW battery)

also, "cheap" is relative, you should let us know a price range, so we can better answer your question.

I mean $40 for MVP2 is cheap, compared to what some vendors charge for it and for what you get for it, but $40 may not be cheap to your wallet....

you could try a $5.50 passthrough from Fasttech..I'm not very good at this stuff but they are cheap!!

what exactly is a passthrough used for ? and what are some cheap ones I could get?

im trying to figure out what battery is good and cheap that can handle dual coils

How many ohms is your coil or how many watts are you planning to use. Without this information we can only make wild guesses to answer your question.
Most mods have current limiting circuits that may not allow the power you want.

Ahh i see.

Usually I do atty's that are between 2-2.5 ohms

I like power output of about 7-9 watts

Yea, from what i hear my current limit on ego-c is weaksauce

can you recommend a good step up from my ego that will effectively vape using a dual coil atty?

I need a cheap, good better battery with more current headroom , from what i'm hearing

i have a duel coil aspire 1.8ohm head and i cant even put it past 4v on my spinner. its too much power makes the flavor and vapor too intense for my liking. i would drop down to a 1.8ohm head. 2.5ohm is too high for a spinner, ego twist, evod batt etc.

If I am understanding you right then you should use the 2.5 ohm head. Higher ohms means more resistance and produces less power for at the same voltage. why don't you lower the battery voltage with the 1.8 ohm head. That will give you a less intense vape.

I reread your post Now I see where I misunderstood. The dual coil at 1.8 ohm is actually 0.9 together. Your statement of
"I like power output of about 7-9 watts" threw me off.

As margate69 said if you want vv mod the Vamo goes for a reasonable price. Here are the spec;

Output Voltage from 3.0 volts to 6.0 volts. Adjusting the working volts by 0.1 volt each time by pressing “+” or ”-” buttons.

Output power from 3 watts to 15 watts. Adjusting the working power by 0.5 watts each time by pressing “+” or ”-” buttons.
That would be enough to handle a single 1.8 ohm coil. 1.8 ohms at 4.8 volts gives 2.7 amps and 12.8 watts. Not enough for a double coil at 4.8 volts.

Your next option would be a mechanical mod but that's another ball game. I don' use them so Ill let someone do it. I am surprised that all of those low resistance people aren't here.

A passthrough is a pv with or without a battery that plugs into a usb port. There are 6 volt passthroughs with no battery. the ego type can also be just regular ego with a usb plug on the back for charging or when plunged in so it won't use up the battery while vaping. I have both kinds but the ego is still limited by the same amp cutoff. The one without a battery is 6volts and limited by the amperage of the usb port.
