looking for a decent mod.

I can't post this anywhere else so I'm doing it here. I want to get into higher voltages, 5 or 6. I'd rather not buy a box mod, but I suppose I would if it were reaaaalllly worth the money.

Just want to get a strong throat hit and decent vapor. even my vgo isn't putting out much vapor.

I have three criteria:
1. cost. I really don't want to spend more than 100 bucks for the unit and batteries/charger. [maybe a place to get the charger/batteries real cheap?]
2. it must not look like a stupid cylinder. What I mean is, something interesting, not a chuck or an x-haler [sorry guys!] I love the look of the omega, but it's my understanding this can only be vaped at 3.7v. Since I have a vgo that seems like a pointless investment.
3. I have seen a lot of PVs that look suspiciously like vibrating toys...er...adaptever....what? I don't need to be vaping a PleasureWand.

I really like the GG,GLV,prodigy, and the silver bullet [but the sb can't be done at 6v safely?]

which is best in terms of throat hit/vapor, and feel/ergonomics? Any other suggestions happily considered. And sales/trade offers.

Although the Omega and Silver Bullet are not recommended by the manufacturer to run at 6v lots of people do it. Just replace the single 18650 with a couple of 18350's or rcr123's and you've got HV. They don't recommend it for liability reasons, stacking batteries increases the chance of failure. Another option is the Madvapes Maxi Roughstack, it'll do HV as well and the cost is considerably less. Read the description for more details.

I could use the omega at 6v? I vape heavily. very heavily. literally non-stop. I go through 900mAh batteries in half a day. I go through 30 mls of ejuice probably every week. oops.

So, how severe is the chance of failure with the omega at 6v? better/worse/the same as the silver bullet?

I really like the design of the roughstack. I like that button on the top. That's another reason I like the glv, but I'm not paying 130 bucks at present. The roughstack is going to be strongly considered. I also like the copper, but it's ugly as hell.

there's gottttaaaaa be something out there!

The best device that I can recommend to give you a full range of voltages is the Buzz by notcigs. They are well built and have an excellent warranty backed by excellent customer service. The ability to adjust your juices is well worth the money spent. A kit runs about $120.00. At least check it out and see if would be something that would interest you. Notcigs has a forum on here so I would suggest looking at that as well. Another great product they carry is the Infinity. Smaller with a thumb wheel to adjust the voltage. All that is in stock right now are blemished but Mike won't sell stuff that looks horrible. You could drop him a PM (Buzzkill) and ask about them too.

Basd on the above, you cannot go wring with a 5v GLV-2.

With charger and batteries it'll exceed your $100 target but its performance, durabilty, and ergonomics will also exceed your expectations.

Whatever you decide, good luck on your purchase!

oh ACTUALLY - how about this question:

is there a difference between using a vgo-type cig, and ,say, an omega or silver bullet at 3.7v? or using a LR atty on a 3.7v device vs a 6v device with a regular atty? is it worth the money?

Yes with a more capable battery it'll provide the amperage needed not to mention a slight raise in voltage to 3.7 type batts.

I always recommend vv but that's just me. If you're on a budget it's going to be hard to beat the Maxi Roughstack imo. It may not the be most stylish mod going but 3.7, 6 and 7v configurations available depending on what batteries you use and it's about as durable as a mod gets. Easy user replaceable switch if that's ever needed. Hard to beat it for a first mod with a smaller body available also if you should ever want to go that route.

I'll also throw my two cents in regarding a high capacity 18650 mod and low resistance cartomizers, In my use, I find it really comes close to the performance of my 5v GLV-2 with less chance of burnt taste and much cooler cartomizers, which is a plus for heavy users who might need to wait for them to cool off for a minute or so. Most important, for me anyways, is that the 18650 will make it through at least a full day of heavy use.

The chance of failure lies with the batteries more than anything, although the circuitry in the rig must also be up to the task. The Omega, SB, or Maxi Roughstack will all do 6v without a problem. When you stack batteries you are putting them in series, this is doubles the voltage output. Although it's fairly safe to do so with protected batteries it does increase the chance of failure. Stacking unprotected batteries is asking for trouble, and that's when most of the failures have occurred.

Not all devices rated at 3.7v are equal. I've checked the output voltage with a multimeter on my 18650 batt's fresh off the charger and they typically run at 4.18v. They stay well above 3.7v for over 8 hours. My 14500's come off the charger at 4.22v and run about 4 hours above 3.7v. I switch batteries when vapor production starts dropping off and have checked voltage at that point and found them to be between 3.7 and 3.8v. So I'm replacing them at the point where the vGo is likely starting out.

Using any unit in which you stack batteries will cut down on your runtime. Where you can fit a 2600mah 18650 battery, you can only stack 2 batt's for around 900mah running at 6v. If you want more runtime, use an LR @ 3.7v, which as stated above is really over 4v.

If you're really wanting the most TH, vapor production, and battery life you'll have to go VV. As hairball suggested, the Buzz is about the most economical VV mod in that price range on the market at this point. You may want to check it out too. It gives you lots more options and you cant tailor the output to your own needs.

+1 for the 5V GLV2. Like Scottitude says, you can't go wrong. Built like a tank and worth every penny of the $110 price tag.

Another nice thing about the GLV2 is that it works with just about any atomizer. I've yet to find one that won't work on it. Low resistance, high resistance, whatever...
