Looking for a ecig for my girlfriend

Yesterday I saw an article about how good is an e-cig compared to a regular cigarette, and how good it is to quit smoking.
I don't smoke, and i never did. But my girlfriend does, so I believe it will be a good gift.

I tried to learn about e-cigarettes, but there's simply too much information. I looked onto the FAQ on this site, and i got some questions answered, but i believe in this case it will be more productive to ask on the forum.

She smokes about 15 cigars a day and she's trying to save money by buying separately the tobbacco and the cigars.

I think i need an starter kit and some cartomizers. I want to spend up to 50 Eur including shipping to Spain.

I'm concerned about the money she will spend with refills compared to smoking. I have read that a cartomizer has about 6 cig; and a cartmizer contains 1ml of e-liquid. If I buy 30ml of e-liquid at 13$, I assume i will have enough e-liquid for 180 cigarrettes (10 days of smoking).

And the batteries, I think she will have to charge it up every time in some models. How big should be the battery? There are good-looking models with a good battery? (some models seems too big for a lady)

Greetings and welcome to the forum. If she smokes that many cigars a day then she will want something that will produce a bold taste. In a starter type setup, something with variable voltage will probably be your best bet. Battery sizes will vary, but the larger the battery the larger the "sweet spot" where you get your best flavor before voltage drops off and the taste changes. I'm not familiar with suppliers in your part of the world but some batteries I would look for are: ego-v, ego twist, vision spinner (1000 mah or larger). Some good quality inexpensive tanks would be: Kanger T3, Vision Vivi Nova, Kanger Protank. I would stick with tobacco flavored liquid at first. It seems to hit the spot best when transitioning from tobacco. Hope this helps and good luck.

I would first discuss it with her; I've been married for more than 10 years, trust me!

That aside, my recommendation, even though the one above is good, would be to start with a cartomizer, because IMO it makes the transition easier. Later, switch to a tank (more vapor, stronger taste) and she should be all set.

The tricky part is the battery. You could start with a slim battery, and get a big one later, or see if she'd be comfortable using a cartomizer on a big battery.

In any case, do allow her to be fussy about the small things, like color, or other decorations. If you do this, it will be more personal to her, and she will want to treat it nicely, and hang on to it.

Good luck! She is lucky to have you.

good points, the best choice will be the one that gives her the best chance of success

After some reading, i noticed that a 510 was the best model that still looks like a cigarette. I believed that 280mAh for the battery was not enough for her. But after some reading I found that is expected to give about 2 hours of vaping. And my gf doesn't smoke that much on a day, so it will be enough. Maybe I was wrong about the amount of cigs.

So I told her about that one, and she liked it in white. And I buyed it last saturday at vapspain.es with 3 bottles of 10ml of e-liquid, each one with a flavour and different nicotine.

Yesterday we received it, with one extra bottle as a gift. She's starting to use it and combining it with regular cigs. And the first battery ran out this evening. So it's enough.

I'm a bit late finding this thread but want to welcome you to the forum, deavidsedice, and tell you I think it's wonderful what you've done and are doing for your friend! Looks like you've started her on the right path.

Would she be interested in joining us here on ECF? Lots to learn and lots of direct encouragement and support for her here. Also, if she'd prefer, there's the Spanish-language sub-forum: Español

She's very lucky to have a friend like you! Well done!

EDIT: If she decides to give e-cigarettes a try, be sure she has at least two batteries, one to use while the other is charging. (Always have a backup, and backups for the backup... First rule of vaping!)

I agree with Warhawk. A nice Ego starter kit would probably be best. I went straight for a mod and picked up a Vamo from Fasttech. $28 with free shipping. But I can see how a huge mod like that could be too much for some people at first.

Fasttech also has Ego starter kits on the dirt cheap, though. And some nice Liqua juice for $5 and change per 30 ml, which is a nice size bottle. 30 ml's last me about 3 weeks and I was a heavy smoker. If she smokes cigars she might like Liqua's Cuban Cigar flavor. I recommend 24 mg nicotine for a beginner.

After recommending devices to people for a while, now i feel bad that i was not able to recommend Kanger Evod's in the past (they dis not exist). For simplicity it beats cartomizer and performance vice it beats basic wick based clearomizers, rba's are not an option of courše..
Now i have two lady friends sucking on an evod, and they love it. The heads are also cheap and easy to replace.
As batteries go - cant go wrong with Ego twist or some other Quality vv ego style mod. One friend uses the Kanger's own battery, looks good in pink and work quite well if only low res evods are used. But i would recommend silver or black twist and matching evod :)

Today one 510 atomizer has died, after my girlfriend tried to remove the cartridge by twisting it (instead of pulling). :(
Now, the battery led blinks like if there's no energy left, but with the other atomizer works. A fully charged battery does the same.
I guess the atomizer is short-circuited and nothing can be done to repair it.

So, i only have an atomizer left and i have some fear, seems too fragile.

Some alternatives seems too big (tanks in general are too big). But i may need something harder.

I'm tempted with an small RDA, but only if it comes pre-mounted at 2.0 - 2.5 ohms; It's OK for me to re-assemble it if i want to fix it. But i prefer to get it pre-assembled.
The Optimus RDA was the only one i found interesting: The Optimus RDA, Stainless
It has a diameter of 14mm and seems small enough.
Maybe this one is small enough too: A7 500 REBUILDABLE DRIPPER SÆT

Also, i like the atomizer, but i don't like the 510 catrigdes, because they are punched by the atomizer.
