I have been using an evod 2 for the last week and am already ready to upgrade, but can't decide what to go with. I have never tried anything else so I don't really have any preference over box or cylinder yet. I have been looking at the twist, mvp2, some other random ones, and since I am pretty good with electronics and a soldering iron, just building a DNA30. I am going to be putting a kayfun clone on it and eventually a dripper too. I am also looking to keep it as inexpensive as possible, but while still getting something decent.

I don't want anything too big. I need something that can easily go in a pocket.
I need either passthrough and/or replaceable batteries
Able to handle both a tank and a dripper well

Opinions???

Hmm....well, seeing as you're gonna be using it to start rebuilding, you want something that doesn't have a relatively high minimum resistance on it, so that eliminates a lot of mods. If I were you, I'd check out either the MVP 2.0, which can fore down to ~0.8 ohms or so, but it can only fire at a meager 11 Watts, so that might actually be a deal breaker. As far as a starter box mod goes, chech out the DNA 30 Cana, it can normally be had for about $70, fires down to ~0.35-0.5 ohms, and can push out up to 30 Watts, which means you don't even have to build low resistances to get good vape quality. You can build a coil around 1 ohm and push 30 watts and get similar vape quality to someone running a mech at half that resistance. So maybe that might be an option for you? Good luck, update us with whatever you end up choosing!

Well now that I know I can get an MVP for 40, that is what I am going to do.

Thanks for the suggestions and links

Keep in mind that the MVP can only handle up to 11 watts, which as you start getting lower and lower resistance, isn't really all that much. So when you start rebuilding with a RBA or a dripper, you're gonna want to keep the resistance above 1 ohm, otherwise your vape won't be all that satisfying. Regardless, the MVP is still a good buy, and will please you for a long time to come!

Yeah, that was a reservation of mine but honestly I don't know if I will end up even needing or caring about that. Plus, I am sure that in the not so distant future I will still end up building a DNA 30, if not more than one. I am also a video game collector so I at least have to make one of the NES controller mods. :p

If You are looking for mechanical mod i recommend 4nine. Very minimalistic, elegant. Goes well with most of atties.

I am not looking for a mech yet, thanks though.

I really like my little 14500 mechanical mod for everyday use (bagua clone with a kayfun mini 2.1 clone 1.6 ohm coil). I use 4 batteries from morning to night, heavy vaping (I have 8 total, one set in charger, the other 3-4 in my modified Altoids battery box- interior covered in etape/foam). It looks much cooler than an ego.

I can easily get through with 2 batteries, but I like my vapes hot. With my mech mod, this means I "like" to switch around 60% of battery charge.

This is a "smoking" set up, not for cloudmaking- though you can make a lot of vape, I run cotton and like to only change every 2 days.

Well as long as you're okay with the 11 watt limit, have at it! And word, building your own NES DNA would be pretty sweet :p Have you thought of maybe using a Raptor or OKR chip instead though? They can push out way more power than 30 watts, and they're still fairly simple to build. Definitely look into it man, either way building your own mod always gives a huge feeling of satisfaction :)

Hey dataz! I am rather new to gaping myself (this go-around) and I did a bit of research on APV before I made my purchase. I use a MVP2 with Kanger Aerotanks. I didn't like the limitations of the twists (my opinion only) and wanted something with more battery life. I have to say that it has treated me well. I haven't had any problems. The one drawback, it's not a high-power device. In other words, I can't see myself using a RDA or sub-ohm build on top. That said, a Kayfun with a 1.2+ coil would probably work well on it. If you are thinking of going below that, or experimenting with sub-ohms, I would say to go with the DNA30. Honestly, I probably would have gone with one but the price killed it for me. I will probably go that route in the future but for now, bang for your buck, the MVP2 is a sure winner! Again... IMHO!

For what it's worth, I am now researching a Mech Mod to start on for two reasons: 1.) I want to start building my own coils and working with RDAs, and 2.) I like the idea of having removable batteries that I can have one charging while I am using another. I hate being tied down with a cord when my power is low and I need a hit!

Anyone else have any thoughts?
