I currently have 4 ecig models. Saddly, the argument that e-smoking is cheaper than regular cigs has turned out to be false in my case...I keep buying different models. Im fascinated :).

I was thinking about getting a DSE to compare what many consider to be the 'standard' to the ones I currently have.

Before I start, I referenced the pics in the newb thread that is stickied labeled something like Pics of e-cigs.

1. I have a smoking-everywhere cig that resembles a RN4081. Not familiar with the size of the RN but the cart looks exactly like the style of the RN.
Of course, this was bought from smoking everywhere. It is the size of a standard size analog cig. Awful. After 2 weeks, it nearly stopped vaping. Dont recommend (and way overpriced).

*** The other three I have were bought from ecigsales (2 day shipping, fantastic cigs, no sales tax, and great prices).

2. The Great White. Resembles a large RN4081 but other than the size difference, same basic design. Its about the size of a small cigar. I hate this one as well.

3. Pen Style. Length of a BIC's pen, double the thickness. Maybe similiar to a dse 801 but it definately looks different. Love it!!

4. "Ultimo". Resembles a 901 - in fact, looks exactly like a 901 except it is black with a blue LED. Love it!!

I do have a mini-pipe from ecigsales as well but it is far different from cig models.

I like my Pen Style and Ultimo for different reasons and as such, I carry em both around with me so I can smoke the one I am in the mood for.

Ok, that covered, Ill tell ya what I like and dont like in an ecig (probably the same as everyone else lol).

1. Performance. Yep, I want a fog machine in my cig. I like setting off my fire alarms (well, maybe thats overkill).

2. Ease of use / maintenence. One of the things I very much dislike about the first two ecigs I mentioned is the carts and how to refill them (very narrow opening on the carts). Im a huge fan of the wide opening where the wool is. Makes it easy to refill on the road - plus, they generally can take 4-5 drops which means less refilling.

3. Longer Battery life (or fast recharging time). There is newer battery technology out there but saddly, it hasnt made it to the vaping scene yet. So, until then, the longer the battery is useful for, the better. Which brings me to the point...I prefer a battery that cuts before the vaping is affected. On 3 of the models I have, the battery begins to die leading me to believe I need to refill the cart when in actuality, it turns out the battery needed to be charged.

4. No cutoff. On two of the models I have, the cutoff has been disabled on either one (or both) of the batteries. While I dont need a 30 second drag, I really like to take slow, longer drags (10-15 seconds). On an analog, I would generally need 10 drags to smoke a 100 size cig.

5. I want a smooth inhale. Consistant thru the entire drag. And no burnt/harshness.

I should mention, Im not worried about size. I mean, as long as I dont need an 18-wheeler to ship it to me or have to be able to bench press 100+ of course. All joking aside, I dont mind if its big.

Alright, now that Ive written a novel, Ive been looking at getting a 901 but Im also curious about the 801 penstyle. So, this question will come in a few parts.

1. Differences between the 801 and 901 (other than size)?
2. RN (generic?) versus DSE?
3. Do the 'official' DSE's have a cutoff? If not, can they easily be modded (or as in question number 4, where can I get one that is modded)?
4. Site for ordering 'official' DSE's. Electronic-Ash is the only one Ive seen so far that is stated elsewhere in the forums here that has authentic parts but they are somewhat pricey and only have 901s - no 801s. Also, Id love a black with blue LED but Electronic Ash is Black w/ Orange (maybe official DSE's dont have a blue LED??).

Ok, Ive been looking at the Titan/510 as Ive heard its one of the few ecigs out there that have no cutoff.

Got 4 complete 510s and love every minute of it! Love the fact that I am in charge of my vaping experience with the manual button.

Best of luck and let us know what you decide!! :D

I too have been drooling over the 510. Thing is I hear so many great things about mods like the screwdriver, janty stick, anticipated prodigy etc. I suspect I really need something powerful as I step down in nicotine. I guess what I'm getting at is does the 510 deliver good throat hit at lower levels of nicotine or am I better off going with another model for my stepping down needs? Throat hit is important to me though I don't need to cough up a lung either.

Sorry if this is a thread hijack. Please ignore if so. Thanks!

510 sounds nice, but I'm waiting for the perfect mod that is smaller and has long batty life so I don't have to keep investing money in anything but attys and juice. PS might come out with a smaller version of the Prodigy in a few months, so I'm just waiting and watching. If you have decided on e smoking for a long time, to me it's just a waste of money to keep buying different models, more chargers, battery life sucks, more batteries. Get a mod that's right for you and be done with it.

Yeah, I have to agree with wv2win. I also one the Penstyle, the Ultimo and the Mini Pipe from Jane at electronic cigarette sales (ecsiinc.com) and I love them both. The thing is, the atomizers for the Penstyle from ecsi is the exact same atomizer for the Mini Pipe, so they are interchangeable, and the will also fit the Janty Stick (Joye Stick) which I just purchased from heaven-gifts.com, and this is REALLY the best item you can buy right now other than a screwdriver for vapor production and longevity. I love my Ultimo, but it does not use standard 901 atomizers even thought it is a 901 "style" device, the atomizers and batteries are proprietary and therefore can only be purchased from ecsiinc.com, so I am loving the Joye Stick v3 as I can use the atomizers with with the Penstyle and Mini Pipe from ecsiinc, so I have more choices just by swapping the atomizers around. Go with the Janty/Joye Stick v3.

Having read the OP's list of requirements - which did not, as far as I can see, include heavy throat hit - I would suggest the answer is a big battery mod running at 3.7v with 901 atomisers. That will meet the requirements for long draws, long battery life, flavour and vapour. I have a Screwdriver - which does all that for me - but there are plenty of alternatives.
