Hi all,

I have been going through all of the posts in this forum as I'd like to build my own box at some point. I have my initial design, but I'd like to create a chip cradle and I'd like to be able to use a non functioning chip to help design it. I know that there are cradles out on Shapeways, but they aren't quite what I'm looking for. If anyone knows where I can get a dud chip, that would be appreciated!

bamani71, sorry I can't help you with the your request for a dud dna20/30, but I designed this cradle and put it up on shapeways. It was designed to be used in a fastech dna30 enclosure. The dna board clips in one side and the cable & display wraps around to the other side.

BTW, what 3D software are going to use? I've had pretty good luck with google's SketchUp.

If only your cradle was for sale! That's kind of the design I was looking for!

I have downloaded Sketchup and am still trying to get the hang of it. I'm actually doing my mockup in balsa foam since I plotted out my initial design on graph paper. I got a block big enough to do a few mock ups (at least 3) mainly to figure out how to make my mod out of a single block of wood.

bamani71, Go figure, I received my updated cradle today and it fits like a glove. It is now available for sale :)

Browsing around getting ideas on my next project can anyone comment on these? Also if my math is correct I should be able to use one of these, a 18650 (no sled), spring loaded 510 in a 1590 A hammond box. I think it will be tight that is ok, my concern is how fragile the dna's are with the screen and all that. I have 3 of the tactile BB buttons coming if it get to tight to fit a regular anti vandal switch like this

The only protrude into the mod 1/2 inch, I have one in use and its ok. Thanks for the help.

rhelton, If you could provide me detailed dimensions of the size that would best work for you, I could create a cradle for you. Regarding your concerns about the fragility of the DNA, it does have to be handled gently. Especially the ribbon and where it connects to both the board and the display screen.
