I need you assistance please. My husband bough me a smok SID for Christmas along with Ultrafire 18650 rechargeables. It "rattled" when I opened the package and only gave me an error message of "short" from the get go. The on-line retailer sent me a replacement (or so they say) that worked for two days. They then exchanged the SID for a Vamo V2 -- which worked for 1 day.

I'm thinking these new fancy VV APV are crap -- and now I don't want one. So I would like to exchange the Vamo V2 for a strictly mechanical mod that works well.

What do you recommend?

Can't go wrong with a Nemesis, original or clone, just be sure to get it from a reputable retailer. Oh, and be sure to clean it (this goes for any mechanical mod) as they are usually shipped with machining grease. Just be sure to thoroughly clean all threads, inside and outside the mod, the switch inside and out, and you wont be disappointed.

Most likely Your problem is the protected fire batteries! You need a 10 amp imr battery for them to work properly. Your probably trying to run under 2ohms on it, my guess 1.5 , it won't work. A battery like you have will only work, and not well, around 3 ohms, 2.5 minimum. The good thing is you can also use the imr in a mechanical when you get one.

I'm new to this scene, but I got a Nemesis clone and a Kick 2 today and I'm not sure I'll go back to my other VV/VW devices for awhile. I'm using a 1.1ohm Kayfun Lite and loving it. Fantastic flavor and dead simple to use. I've already ordered a another clone along with a genuine model to play with since I'm a certified gadget freak. I highly recommend the magnet switch kit, as well. Makes for a much smoother action with a bit more resistance than the spring (which didn't allow me to set it down upright without firing since the KFL is fairly hefty).

m16, brass version from fasttech. This thing is great. Very low voltage drop, great threading, will almost certainly outlast me, simple to fix if something goes wrong, and it's so basic that not much can go wrong. I guess the same is true for all mech mods; I'd watch out for ones with aluminum threading, which apparently strips easily.

The drawback is that Vamo, etc., will tell you when there's a short. A mech mod won't. I use a multimeter for that, but that's an extra step. Another problem is that you have to get a feel for the batteries; the mod won't stop firing when the battery is below a certain level. That's not very hard though as you'll know when you're below 3.6; the quality of the vape goes way, way, way down.
