I picked up my eGo-T just about a week ago. I stepped down from 35 analogs/day to about 2 a day during the week, and I just placed another order for a backup standard atty and two LR atty's from Vicki (Cignot) on Friday.
Saturday came, and my atty was getting a bit gunked up - the pull was hard and I had minimal vapor no matter what juice I used. I tried blowing/rinsing the atty, poking at the wick, etc., and any improvement was very short lived. I was starting to freak out a bit, worrying that I was going to have to get some analogs if I couldn't get some better vapor soon...
I google'd ecigarette + my local town names, and found that one of the ECF forum suppliers was only about 20 miles from me! I called "Vapin in the Cape" and found they had a retail store and were open until 7pm on Saturday (YAY!) I drove over immediately and talked with the owners about my situation.
I learned a lot being there in the store, like I didn't know that I could just throw a 510 atty on my 1000mah eGo-T battery (sure it looks funny, but it's an option!). They recommended a few things, and ultimately I decided to try the 510 TANK atomizer (their model:
TANK Atomizer) and grabbed a syringe and a 5-pk of tanks as well. My eGo-T kit was stainless, and the stainless atty they had matches perfectly. So far this is working pretty well for me!
The good: The atomizer is more like a normal 510, with the steel screen dome cap thing, and the tanks have a small amount of fluval in the tip which provides the wicking and keeps the juice in. You do need to fill it with a syringe, but with 1.7ml capacity you can just fill a tank or two in the morning/evening and be in good shape all day. The vapor production is easily twice what I got with a brand new eGo-T atty, the flavor comes through better, and the pull is much much easier - I can get a better draw in 3 seconds on this atty/tank than I can with a two-primer-puff + 6 second draw on the wick style eGo-T atty/tank. I've also found I can double-puff this combo, whereas if I did that with the wick style the second puff was very frequently dry or super weak.
The bad: nothing's perfect. The third time I filled one of my tanks, I wasn't careful enough with the syringe and I ended up pushing some of the fluval down into the tank. Now I'm leery of that cartridge as I'm afraid it could leak on me. A second tank had the opposite problem, it seemed the fluval was a little too intact and at first it wasn't feeding well - I used the syringe to inject a tiny bit of air and it was fine after that. Using a syringe is weird too, if a stranger walked in on me filling my tanks I'd have my work cut out dispelling their first impression...
Overall, I'm quite psyched. I will certainly continue using my regular eGo-T tanks and attys too, but now I also have this other combo for those moments when I want more vapor (e.g., fiending) or for my more subtle juices. I don't feel like my eGo-T investment was wasted, rather I've complemented it. I'm very grateful to the folks at Vapin' in the Cape for being there Saturday, and they definitely listened to me and steered me in a good direction.
TL, DR; if (when?) you reach the point where you feel the eGo-T is perhaps a bit too gentle and start considering alternatives - the wickless 510 TANK atomizers are worth checking out.
BTW - I'm sure other vendors have this atty/tank combo as well, I don't want to seem like a shill, I'm just linking from experience and out of appreciation - they really did save me Saturday.
