So I made up a 5v mod for my first attempt with a TI booster I got for free and a 18650 batt. It works just fine, but I'm just not happy with the bulk of it. I think I'd rather just use some of the parts, most specifically the 18650, to make a good "compact" 3.7v mod.

Does anyone have any links handy for some ideas? I was kinda leaning towards a harbor freight flashlight, but meh. I'd like to go for something lower profile than sucking on a flashlight.

Thanks

Isn't done yet, but is coming along nicely. It probably doesn't fit your requirements, but why not go with a metal tube and 2 press fit end caps?

Sorry its in german, but I was thinking along these lines, and the pics show how its done:

It may be just me, but I can't find the thread on the German board asdaq..... I'd like to see the pics (I don't speak German).
Is there a set of keywords to search for on there?

Just an idea: score entire length with scratches to match the atty end cap, then work beeswax into the scratches but rub off of the smooth surface. Finally, accelerate the tarnishing with warm soapy water on the surface. once cleaned up you will have a nice contrast between tarnish and shine and can apply a clearcoat. Yes, I do like tarnish :)

Unfortunately getting any kind of finish to stick to copper is very difficult, plus you need something that is wear and e-liquid resistant.

I'd like to try this recommended product but it's too expensive.

Copper Shield - Copper Protectant

Tarnished green patina is usually sought after in copper thingies.
Verdigris is the common name for the a green pigment you speak of, unfortunately due to the handling our mods get it never has a chance to form or remain.

Ends up like this. Doesn't look pretty to me.

Tomato juice might be better than urine, from a fresh tomato, not a can. And there must be a simpler coating available, like something for a copper countertop in a kitchen say. WB, is that yours?
Yes it is unfortunately. :)

I had originally used satin lacquer. Looked good for a while then it started to flake off with handling and juice.
