I am trying to put together a comprehensive starter kit for my Brother who is a 2 pack a day smoker. We spent a week on vacation together recently and using my spare Provari with a carto tank he went through less than a pack so I think that he is finally ready. He in currently living in North Dakota and working as a safety inspector in the oil fields there and has almost no access to the internet and no access to a brick and mortar store, so what I get for him will need to contain everything he will need for about 6 months. He can't smoke in the company truck or in the house and with the brutal winters there I figure that will give me the best opportunity to get him off of the analogs.

Here is what I have so far...

New Vamo with an older lava tube for a back up

3 18650 batteries

3 18350 batteries

Charger

2 IBTanked Carto tanks with a replacement glass

25 pre punched boge cartos

Tank filler

Drip Tips

juice, lots and lots of juice.

I have been vaping for almost 4 years and have accumulated so much gear and juice along the way that I rarely need something that I don't have so I don't want to forget something.

Is there something that I am forgetting? Is 25 cartos enough or should I go with more? How much juice do you guys think that I should get? Is there something else I should add?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, to be on the safe side I would send him off with more than 25 carto replacments. My friend and I were talking about the 5 packs of replacment cartos and more less came to the conclusion that usually 1 in 5 of them are defected. Maybe its just us? But, just to be on the safe side id send more.

Id also probably recomend maybe a few CE5's as a last resort kinda thing if something possibly happens to his other tanks.

Juice is going to be tricky I think thats where id have my biggest dilema. You really gotta try and gauge how many ml you think he'd go through in a day. Then add more, bc im sure as time goes on he'll be vaping more and more. Boredom also sounds like it could be a factor out there which could lead to more vaping.

Last thing Id possibly recommend would be maybe just like an 1100 mah ego, or an ego twist ect. Just bc itd probably be easier for him to take with him as he works with a less likelyhood of him dropping it and it breaking. I do manual labor myself and have messed my Vamo up pretty good at work to the point where I had to shelf it for a while until I got a chance to mess with it and fix it.

All in all though it sounds like you got things pretty set. And I do tend to over think/plan for worst case scenerios a lot so he may not need as much as Id personally plan for, but just my opinions hope ot helps!

Nice touch including the tank filler tool (the multi-purpose drip tip from IBTanked?) and a replacement glass tube. :thumb:

Considering he likely will muck up a few cartos at the beginning just from the learning curve of being new to cartotanks, probably a good idea to have more cartos than just 25.

Also, still considering that he is so new to vaping and that cartotanks are a little more complex, perhaps a couple of ProTanks would be fitting. Easier and faster to fill than a cartotank, especially if in the field and not having the space needed to fill/assemble a cartotank. They can be filled on the run by carrying a juice bottle in a pocket or where ever.

How long might he be in the field at a time? Might need another battery or two in each size. You can never have too many batteries. Also plastic battery cases to store/transport these batteries to prevent a mishap of shorting a battery against pocket change or keys.

I'd recommend some sort of man purse or vape bag which is large enough organize and carry all of his gear and at least some of his juice bottles. I use a converted mini-laptop carrying case. The one that I use everyday is manufactured by Swiss Gear and I purchased it from Staples.

The little battery cases that many vendors sell can do double duty carrying not only batteries, but tanks or juice bottles, too. I got mine from RTD Vapor.

Very good set-up on your part!!

But I agree that 25 cartos may not be enough for 6 months. I would figure he may go through one on each tank a week (more than one flavor) to be on the safe side. So unless he can call you and you get him some more easily, I would double that to 50 cartos.

I wouldn't mess with the clearos (CE5's) since they vape so much differently than cartos (airy draw). I would get some mega clear carto's as a back stop, so if he some how breaks one or both his tanks, he can still vape. They hold almost 5ml's of eliquid. Something like this:

Note: make sure he knows to use the Vamo in RMS (N02) mode and adjust his power in watts.

What an awesome brother you are!

Sister, but thanks for the complement. I owe him for some not so nice things that I did to him when we were kids. I wasn't the greatest big sister.

Thanks for the great advice. I would have totally forgot battery cases and the guy that won't even carry a wallet would have just thrown them in his pocket. Could have been a real mess.

Anybody know about how much juice they go through in a 6 month period? At least I know what he likes there because he tested out all of mine.

Most people go through 3 - 6 ml a day, so average that to 5 ml. Multiple that by 30 for a month's worth = 150 ml. So roughly 900 nl. for the 6 months. Figure on some tank filling mishaps where juice gets wasted.

2 ppd is pretty heavy. Unless you both have already decided upon nic strength based on his previous short experience, 18 - 24 mg is recommended for 1 ppd, so 24 mg or maybe even some in 36 mg might be in order for your brother.

I'd add an extra charger ... I've only had one go bad so far but if he is out in the boonies
with no way to charge his batteries due to a bad (or lost) charger he would be up
that old creek.

And also a few EGo style batteries as "backup".

Always hate that possibility of depending on something and no alternative if something
unexpected goes wrong.

This is good advice. But a range of eliquid, say between 16 - 36mg might be a good idea incase he finds he needs something less in the evening and something more during the day. That way he can mix them to any number inbetween if necessary.

Backups for your Backups. When I started (waaaaaay back in May) I was using ego 1100mah batts exclusively. Then my charger died. The only thing that I had left was a 180mah cig-alike battery and charger. Luckily, I had ordered another charger with some other things from Fas**ech (seems to be a bad word around here), and only had to wait four days for it to arrive. I also discovered that I could charge my ego batts with the cig-a-like charger (they both had 510 connections), it just took a long time.

The moral of the story is to always have backups for your backups.

    No you can't
If it was giving someone a gift who's starting to vape and need a good setup. I'll buy a vea setup from Johnson Creek Smoke Juice - We Make Premium Smoke Juice for all electronic smoking devices! Johnson Creek Smoke Juice Cost $59.95 comes with two batteries, charger and its a passive system means it can be charging and used at the same time. Uses 510 cartomizers, 5 pack cost $9.95 Comes with them.

You can also pick up pre made juice from them.

I bought that setup last year and moved up to VAMO still use it when I go out its small can be put in top shirt pocket. The plus to getting this setup is that when you move up your still going to use it.

Company stands behind their product that means only a phone call away for help or supplies etc.

Later your brother can upgrade after the learning curve we all do is learned.

Oh yea almost forget I suggest get him a mini VIVI NOVA with extra wick/coil setup. He can decide later if he wants to make his own coils, juice or upgrade. You know we all upgrade very quick and thats just trowing money out the window. This way your see him using your gift many many times.

Check out Johnson Creek Smoke Juice - We Make Premium Smoke Juice for all electronic smoking devices! Johnson Creek Smoke Juice

He has a cell phone can he get on the internet with it or he can call them up for re-supplies.
Any phone will do their a call away.

I think he will like it hole lot, starter setup should cost you under $100.00 for everything he needs.

Some companies will let you ship to another address. So if he has no internet access you can always order for him and send it there.

Also I would send some T3 and Evods...Carto Tanks can be finnicky sometimes and with those you can just fill and vape and he would get more time out of those heads as long as he cleans and maintains them.
