Bought my wife an EVOD starter kit of her own (in the color she selected) for Christmas last year after I quit my 30+ year habit in under 2 weeks

Long story short.....I ended up the proud owner of 2 more EVODs
I just celebrated a year of not smoking while she's still on the cigs.

I think it's a great gift anyway and wish him success, just don't be disappointed if it doesn't work.
However, I would question whether 12 mg is starting too low if he is a regular smoker and not just a casual.
Think there's a better chance of success starting higher and letting him work down---to have better chance he's getting the nicotine satisfaction to keep him going.

Good Luck!

Agree. I would have been completely unsuccessful starting at 12 mg, or even 18. That said, it sounds like a great start, OP! Hope he sticks with it!

I picked up the basic kit linked below. It's the kit I started with and wanted something simple. I figured it would be good to have an extra battery and tank. If they stick with it I plan on setting them up with some of my better gear. I cleaned up a couple Kanger tanks and found some more Ego type batteries.

You can get much better gear for a little more money, but when I started if someone starting talking about airflow, voltage and ohms, I'd still be smoking.
