Hello I am new to this forum. And looking for someone help. I have just started vaping about a year ago and have no interest in going back to the old days. My first purchase was a Kanger top box mini. During the course of the first 3 months of use it it was ok. I was introduced to building my own coils and then shortly switch to an RDA. Currently using a twisted messes 2 and love it.. what I would like to know is building A RDA or RTA for temperature control.. temperature control was one feature I loved about the Kanger. The problem with it was the coils I could buy package of coils and only 2 or 3 out of 5 would work properly. So I would like to build my own any information or links on how to do it safe thank you

My view is anybody who expects to be a life long vaper is going to be rebuilding and mixing sooner or later. Once you get them working you'll wish you had started sooner. You can learn a lot from youtube videos. Start with simple single coil builds. The standard wire size is 28 guage. I use stainless because it works in watts mode or temp control. You'll want to refer to a resistance calculator like steamengine. The best things about my rda setup is it's easy to rewick which I like to do every two days and there is no glass to break.

You can pick up a spool of 28awg Tempco Ti-01 from Amazon (of all placed) fairly inexpensively.

Single wire, spaced wraps is the perfect starting point. 6-8 wraps with 2-3mm ID ought to get you a decent starting cold resistance.

Recall that your MOD in TC mode now has two settings to fiddle with: watts and temperature. Many modern MOD's will display ether the calculated coil temp or display "temp protect" once the temperature set point is reached.

I usually start at 20W, 300F and hit the fire button. If the coil reaches its set point within 1 second I'll then slowly (20F at a time) up the temperature until I'm getting the flavor and vapor production I want. If the coil does not reach the set point within 1 second I'll up the wattage to 25 or 30W. Keeping in mind that a single wire 28AWG coil really does not need more than ~30W to work well in TC mode.

    From there - ENJOY!

Yep, I learned a ton from YouTube then of course a lot of trial and error. SS is my preferred wire, much cleaner and crisper flavor, I'm not into the Temperature Control, way to much busy work for little reward. My go to is 30x2/36 SS fused Claptons. I then use 32x2/38 in my Tootie Puffers.

I go back to factory coils once in a blue moon and it's just not a satisfying vape. With the FDA Apocalypse coming down anyone who wants to continue Vaping needs to know how to build.
