My recommendation after an admittedly short period of time vaping (4 months) is that you really need several different PVs for different situations.....
first of all you want cartomizers.....for a while 808s were the only option but now it seems pretty easy to find 510s in stock....it's simply easier....
then you want to have a 5 volt passthrough for knocking back at home with lots of taste and vapor.....
next, for those times when you just can't get enough vapor no matter how hard you try you want some LR atties with a drip tip to use on your passthrough.....flood yourself into oblivion....
finally you want something for mobility.....driving to work, mowing the lawn, hanging at someone else's house.....something easy to slip in your pocket, palm in your hand.....it won't be as good as your 5v but you want it to be close, at least a 3.7......there are some new commercial manufactured units like the eGo and clones that are trying but they aren't quite there.....I suggest one of the cheaper mods, like a box mod or a laser mod that you can probably pick up for under $40....
eliquids....just in the last four months there have been several new companies that have joined the ranks of those making superb eliquids.....you could spend a year just exploring the options people rave about here....decide what you're looking for....tobacco? menthol? fruits, sweets.....there are plenty of opinions here on who makes the best of each....read the reviews and take some chances....
