Long time vapor here. Started with the EGO twist, moved to the MVP 2.0, then to the eVic V2, and now I ordered my first mechanical mod.

I'm really excited but I know there are a ton of different batteries out there. It's very much overwhelming. I've read a lot of websites about recommendations but I'm honestly looking for first-hand experienced instead of science.

I will be using my kayfun at work and dripping at home. Normally I run a 1.4-1.6ohm microcoil/cotton build with the kayfun. I may end up sub-ohming it once I have my new mod. With the mod included a EHPRO. Not sure how I will build this just yet. Never even tried dripping before.

Speaking of mods, I chose the Nemesis. I believe it's a stainless steel by EHPRO- 510 telescopic pin (silver-plated brass), SS air control ring, Silver plated contacts, Compatible with any device with 510 threaded connector.. Can be powered by 1*18350 battery/1*18500 battery/1*18650 battery (Outer diameter: 22mm). I narrowed it down to that or the Stingray and based my decision purely on aesthetics. Any one use the nemesis? Thoughts? Advice?

Many thanks in advance.

Everyone uses the nemesis, except me. I'm a stingray guy.

At any rate the battery you seek is a sony vtc 4 or 5.

My experience is that kayfuns work best above .8 ohms. Experiment a bit and see what you like.
Thank you for your response! I will probably stick with the microcoil build for the Kayfun. It's quick, easy, and hits like a beast. Any recommendations for the dripping mod I posted?

Obviously higher mah will give you a longer charge. Are there any negative side-effects for having higher ohms?

Is there anything specific I should look for when browsing for the Sony batteries?

The LG he2 (same as the Efest 35a) is my battery of choice. 20 amp continuous discharge so plenty of room for low ohm coils and a great voltage curve (more juice in the upper voltage regions. Sony vtc batteries and red AWs are commonly recommended. For 18350s I use purple Efests. AWs are usually recommended for 18350s as well. There are many fakes out there so make sure that you buy from a reputable vendor.

I use the HCigar Nemesis with the fatdaddy upgraded mag switch and contacts. I use an IGO-W4, air holes drilled out to 5/64 and run dual coils at .5 ohms. I only use VTC5 batteries in it and also my Reos. I run single coil at .7 and .8 ohms in my Reos, with the RM2 in one and Cyclone with AFC in the other. With your setups, just using ohms law, calculate how many amps you're going to be pulling and get batteries with plenty of capacity to handle it. Don't scrimp on batteries. DO NOT buy them from EBay or Amazon unless you know for sure they aren't counterfeit. I suggest RTD Vapor. They sell genuine AW, Sony, LG or Panasonic. Be safe!

If I buy the SonyVT5 will I run into any issues with the sub-ohms? I'm not very knowledgeable with the ohms law. Money isn't an object. I just want to get the best and trust that it'll work with any given setup.

Keep in mind that with mechs - differently from regulated mods - you will change battery when it goes down to say 3.7V, so it's more important how long the battery will maintain a voltage higher than that.

Fortunately Sony VTC4's (or VTC5) do well in both cases.

About higher ohms: with mechs (since you have no control on the battery voltage) you choose how much 'punch' you want by building higher or lower resistance coils. Lower ohms -> more powerful vape, you get the idea.

I'd recommend a bit of looking into Ohm's law, just for a better grip as to why lower ohms make for higher amperage flowing. Definitely before venturing into sub-ohm territory ;)

Hallo. In my REO Grand (main mod) I have a protected 18650 AW IC (the black wrap) from RTD Vapor (which from my research does quite well on making sure their batteries are authentic... yes there are counterfeit batteries out there... yay). I can get 2, maybe three days out of it. On my tube mech I have an 18350, un-protected EFEST with a Kick 2. Sucker barely last 10 hours.
I have s couple 18500 and they are right in between.
I do not sub-ohm, someone will come along for that I am sure, yet I believe you would want a high draw(drain?) battery for that. Something in the 30 amp range. I know SONY makes those.
Safety, safety - Like I said, one is a protected battery, the other has a Kick for me (the KIck cuts out at about 3.2 volts so as to not over drain the battery). Check to see if you could fit a fuse in your chosen mod, unless it has built in protection... would make sure that fits also... mine just barely fits the REO, did not know it was going to that much longer than the standard 18650. Otherwise keep a volt meter on hand to check it.

As to the mod you chose, sorry I cannot help more, have my REO now!

Hi, you will want a imr battery. I just wanted to let you know with my kayfun it seems she will su ohm best at .7 and up.anything lower than a .7 and it does not perform well. I have a nemisis as well. Please be sure to know your batteries limitations before trying to sub ohm. Also make certain you have a ohm meter!! Know how to use it and check your builds EVER time. Know what a short looks like on a ohm reader. With a short the ohms on a reader will jump around and not give a stable reading. The reason I'm asking you to be extra careful with your builds and double check them with the nemisis is because the mechanicals are not like regulated mods, they will NOT shut down with a short. I myself had experienced a short with my build on my nemisis. It happens so very fast and in less then a second the whole mod instantly became so hot I could barely touch it. I knew what was happening and right or wrong I made the decision to immediately pull the battery to stop the action. The mod and battery were so hot. I wasn't sure if the better was going to continue to vent so I then threw it outside. Luckily it did not. It cooled down but it was a very very scarey experience. So please be aware this CAN happen. Check your builds, and know the limits of your battery. Always be safe first! Hope this helps.

And yes on "normal" ohm my Kayfun is at 1.3ohmz and its like no stress on the battery at all as much as .8 as you get use to it, you'll go lower. We all eventually mess around. Personally I'd stay .2 and up. .2 still isn't maxing the battery. Anyhow that's my 2 cents. Watch the video, it is from last year but it gives you a good idea. His mods are older but its the same idea, exactly. Infact he uses my Nemesis mech mod later in the video. Or I think he does. Now looking at it, he says it but I don't see it.
