Hey everybody, nother new member here. I have had one experience with e-cigs before, and it was horrible. I purchased a kit from smokingeverywhere.com and had a very bad expereience. For the first day the kit did great. After that I immediately began having battery problems. I tried contacting the company and had no luck, even tho everything was supposed to be under warranty. Anyways, my wife has convinced me to give e-cigs another shot, seeing as she is a non smoker and I have had no luck actually quitting the "real deal". I could use some advice on a good brand and what kind of kit i should buy. Also I see alot of people on here talking about using liquid? Are there refillable units? I am on a budget, so this could help. I currently smoke a pack of Marlboro reds a day, and could use some help picking the right level of nicotine for my e-cig. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Welcome to ECF!

There are several brands that are much better and a lot cheaper than SmokingEverywhere. The 510 is a great beginner unit. You can get one for around $40 that comes with 2 complete ecigs. Right now Home | My Freedom Smokes is running an awesome sale. If you use the coupon code "smoke" you get a good chunk taken off a kit. They also have juice that you can use to refill your cartridges in a wide array of flavors. They have a sampler pack that you can customize as to what size, what flavor and what strength. And yes, refilling is a lot cheaper than buying pre-filled carts and it tastes better too.

Something to remember, the closer a unit is to looking like a real cig the worse it is. Good luck and if you need anything else just let me know.

Thanks for the info and the welcome lawnman3! I was wondering if the chuck models produce alot of smoke(vapor). I really am looking for something to fulfill not only my nicotine cravings but also the "feel" of smoking. I ralize an ecig probably can't be perfect, but I would like to get as close as possible without breaking the bank. The chuck prices don't seem bad. Also I need one I can easily take to work with me, with a car charger would be ideal. Thanks again for any info.

My advice is to hold off on the high ticketed PVs or mods... at least until you find the right ecig for your taste.... with that being said the most common are the 510,801,901 their are others like the 2pc KR808 cartomizers that are easy to use and are growing in popularity

Of course there are more models but... if you end up liking one of the 4 mentioned you can easily move to a higher priced mod... that are compatible with these atties

A Chuck is a great mod. Worth every penny. Before I got mine I kept looking at the other mods out there. Since I got it I don't even look at the other mods. I was a 2+ ppd smoker until I started vaping and I've never looked back. Having said that....

LGD has a very valid point. It is better to get the regular kit first and make sure that you like that one. If you don't you either have to get another mod or fool with an adapter.

maybe start with 18mg or 24mg plus a 6mg to cut it if its too strong.... after that you will figure out what mg you should get should you decide to order more.....

I roam around 11mg to 18mg and I was 1.5pack smoker... just remember it is different for each individual

don't go hog wild with your purchase.. a kit a set of carts and maybe 1 or 2 bottles... you will find out why as you get more experience

First of all keep in mind that pretty much everything e-cigarette is very subjective so I will offer my best but fairly general advice....

The most popular model it seems is the 510. I would suspect it's because it produces good vapor and throat hit and can also be found for pretty cheap. They have short battery life, however. These have carts which you can refill with juice. (I think any model can be technically refilled). Refilling is easy and saves greatly over buying prefilled carts.

Go over to cignot.com (a highly rated vendor) and take a gander at their no-box kits. At a minimum you will want 2 batteries and attys (basically two ecigs) and also get at least a 10ml bottle of juice. This should hold you over for a bit and not cost too much incase you go back to cigarettes. I would suggest getting a meduim nic lvl maybe around 18mg or so. You could possibly buy a couple smaller 3-5ml bottles in different flavors and strengths to try out.

I personally purchased the 401 'Dragon' from truesmoker.com (another great vendor) a couple weeks ago and have quit smoking regular cigarettes. It's already paid for itself! I absolutely love my ecig and don't even want a cigarette at all. My wife told me she was proud of me :D

Again, everyone has greatly varying opinions on this but the general consensus will be the 510 so I would start there. One of the biggest things people don't yet realize is it isnt till after you buy one that you really understand how they work and what they are really about.

Good luck!

The 501 looks nice. Lookin at some flavors now. I guess you just drip the juice on the atomizer.

And yes, women are much better shoppers, UNLESS it's automotive or hunting. Those are the only 2 things I even hold a candle to my wife at in shopping.

Thanks again everyone for the help. I'll take geoduck's advice and hold of on the mod for now. Not even sure how it works!

What kind of battery life does the 501 hold? How much vapor does it produce?

And gratz on gettin of the cigs Jules!

Battery life is the only bad thing about the 510. When I first got mine I was a heavy vapor. It was like a pacifier for me,lol I got a PCC (personal charging case, I think that's what PCC stands for, lol) It has really been handy. Spent 3 days in the hospital last month and had no problems keeping a charged battery. Also, if it was me, I would get another atty and another manual battery. Make sure to get a manual kit. You will thank yourself, especially if you are going to drip. You might want to pick up a syringe for refiling carts if that is the way you are going to go. You can get them at the local feedstore pretty cheap. I think I pay 50 cents for one. The 6ml sampler pack at My Freedon Smokes is awesome. I've bought two of them and I loved every flavor I got. And 6ml is not too large of an amount to lose if you just can't stand the flavor.

The inital set up is a little on the high side. About the cost of two cartons to get set up good so you don't end up running short on something in the beiginning of the transition, which you really don't want to do. WIthin a couple of weeks you will be able to tell what flavors you are going to like and you can start buying the bigger bottles and saving even more. I keep 3 people vaping in my house for around $100 a month. I was spending $300 a month on just the cigs that I smoked, not coutning everyone else. You will start seeing a savings fairly quickly after you get started.

I would like to throw my .02 in.
I am new to vaping so I can't speak with all the experience of the others here, but, I just purchased a vapor king from vapor for life. I absolutely love it. It is a 2 piece model , (battery and cartomizer) instead of the other popular models which have seperate pieces for the atomizer and the cartridge. Lots of good vapor coming from this thing and the throat hit is real nice. First time I took a puff, I almost choked.
On the strength thing, I smoke (smoked;)) about a pack-pack and a half of camel filters a day. My kit came with Kamel 18mg and Virginia 16mg. I thought I would need something around 24mg, but these seem to be quite nice.
If you go to youtube, you can search for e-cig reviews and then you can actually SEE some of the models out there and how well they perform. Look for leaford's top 5 favorites. That guy reviews what seems like every e-cig out there. In fact, that is how I came to find not only my perfect PV--the vapor king, but this forum as well.......

Like I said in the beginning, just my two cents....................

Wow, nice savings there. I spend about 150 a month on cigs now. Would be great to drop that a little. I think I'm gonna go ahead and ge the 510 model with the extra battery and sample juice pack. Hope I like a few of the flavors,. Gonna try coffee cappacino, cinnamon roll, hazelnut, Mar Bro(cause it's what I smoke anyways) and Camel(since I pick these up when I have coupons). Can't thank you guys enough.
