Although I guess I'm not technically a new member, I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to vaping. I tried njoy in 2008 and that didn't last too long. I did quit smoking about 5 years ago, but that feeling of wanting to smoke never really did go away.

So I decided to see what's changed in the e-cig world in the last 7 years. I went to a gas station and bought a Vuse. Comparing the Vuse to what I remember of njoy is like night and day. I know people here complain a lot about the Vuse (whether its cost, the company, etc), but I think they did a great job of providing a product that's very easy to use and extremely accessible. Its also a hell of a lot cheaper than NJoy was back when I tried it.

Also, I did order a Halo Triton. That should arrive tomorrow, so I guess I'll have something to compare the Vuse to. The Vuse I think is very satisfying, and hopefully the Halo will be as well (and even cheaper than the Vuse long-term).

I do have some questions:
  • I did notice that Halo has a adjustable voltage battery. Is that something that you guys think someone new to vaping would enjoy, or is that something that's targeted mostly at users who have been doing this for a long time?
  • Do you guys order mostly from the internet when purchasing the liquid, or do you go to local stores to buy it? I've never really been to a vape store (if that's the term for it), but I do see some around where I live.
  • Finally: I used to smoke Camel Lights and L&M lights (now they're L&M Blue). Do you guys know of a flavor of liquid that would most closely match either of those two brands?
Thanks!

Welcome to ECF, Fstanek! Yup, the vaping world has changed enormously over the last several years. For the better, I think :)

VV/VW is not just for advanced vapers. The ability to increase power to your tank will help you to learn what you like. Flavor changes with more power, as does vapor production. Regarding your second question, people do both. There's a great B&M near me, and I love the owners. I try to support them. I also buy juice and hardware online. It's great to have both options available. Check out a couple of B&Ms and see for yourself.

Halo's adjustable voltage battery is just a rebranded eGo variable voltage battery. It's nothing special; similar to what Vison Spinners or Joytech Twists are.

Different flavors often taste slightly different/better at different voltages. In other words, using a fixed voltage battery may restrict your optimal enjoyment of your experience. Being able to increase or decrease the heat to the coil can affect how a flavor ultimately tastes. I recommend using a variable power battery.

I do both. If you don't know what a flavor tastes like by sampling it in a vape shop, then you're just going by a websites description, which could be way off. And everyone's taste buds and taste preferences are different. So in this respect, buying from a vape shop with a sample bar can be advantageous.

I also purchase from online stores. This is usually (but not always) a cheaper way to go.

Finding a flavor that tastes like burning cigarette tobacco and smoke is going to be extremely difficult, if not impossible. Menthol flavors can come close because you're actually relating to the flavor menthol, not the tobacco.

My advice would be to try to find a fruit or desert flavor that you like. Once your have quit smoking and given your taste buds a chance to heal, you likely won't want the taste of a cigarette again.

Baditude is right about your tastebuds healing. I tried to smoke an analog about a month after I quit and couldn't take a 2nd puff. The taste was horrible!!! If you can make it a while without a puff, then try one again, you will likely never want another cig... EVER!!! In the mean time, RY4 is a safe, pleasant tasting flavor. Sweet, but not cloying, and there is usually a little hint of tobacco flavor in most brands. It helped me stick with the e-cig when I was quitting. I started mixing my own juice and found that FA's Royal mixed with their 7 Leaves tastes similar to a Camel if you puff on it before lighting it. MFS sells some premixed juices that use the FA flavors.

Oddly enough, I find the Njoy as good as the Vuse in the UK.
I have a habit of taking them out of people's mouths, breaking them in half and giving them the £5.99 to go and buy a proper e-cigarette not made by a tobacco company.
I know how to make friends. :?:

I hope you love the Halo. Good luck.

The Joyetech 'Desert' flavour supposed to mimic Camel Lights. I'm new myself, and seriously that **** tastes nothing like it, haha. But i guess its a good thing, i mean, you definitely need to add some poison to mimic the taste of 4000 poisons.

The whole connection of Desert (Ship) = Camel is just the worst comparison in the history of vaping. I quite like Desert Ship, it's a sweet flue-cured type tobacco with herby overtones...

I'll order one of those the next time I order from them. I like to "stack" my orders to avoid paying for shipping. :)

I never knew that some places may have "sample bars". I suppose a visit to some around my area could be beneficial.

I actually liked the way tobacco tasted, although I do admit that I have no clue how the "fruity" flavors taste. I think that'll be one of the things I'll need to sample.

I shop 90% online. Here is some links for you to check out...

Wow, I had no idea that there were so many vendors/suppliers. I do like that there's a forum dedicated to deals/coupons!

With the avatar all I can think is Death Note Death Note.
What would L think.

L probably wouldn't waste his time on something so trivial as vaping ;)
I've been using a variation of that avatar for a few years now. I sit like that and I'm an INTP... but that's where the similarities end, probably...

Thanks!
