I purchased 2 Vision Spinners @ 1300 mAh with a T3 and an EVOD from MVS and after receiving it early July, I'm already looking to upgrade. Not that the clearos and the batteries were bad (they were a huge upgrade from my old cig-a-like I started out with back in April), but I was looking to get something that is more friendly to start with a rebuildable (I've been eyeing the ProTank 2 for some time now as I've heard good things about it).. that, and I sold my Vision Spinners to my brother (who was a pack-a-day smoker and finally starting on something better than mall-sold cig-a-likes) and my friend (currently using my cig-a-like leftovers as I plan on buying something new).

I was looking at a few popular mods such as the eVic (really looking at this one with all of its bells and whistles though I opted in for buying the Easy Head express kit), VAMO, K100/101, and some others, but I'm unsure about what I should get after seeing other builds/mods out there such as the Nemesis, Sentinel, Private V2, etc. which looks really nice and supposedly have great vapor production (which I'm a fan of, personally loving Halycon and DIYFlavorShack).

If anybody experienced with mods and RBAs could give me some insight on what I should get, that would be amazing.

Alot of people like the vamo as a starter big mod i would go with a version 1 or 2 heard of some issues with the version 3. The evic is nice but it is very fragile and light weight but nice that it has passthrough capability as long as its plugged into an outlet it will not do the passthrough if its plugged into a pc port. A good place for hardware is Venerable Vaping The Cheap Ego E-Cigette Store - Honor The Vape AJ is awesome good prices and awesome customer service. He also carrys the RSST which alot of people are really liking it as a reasonable priced RBA that also works very well

The problem with mods and rbas is that there are so many different kinds. What you need to do is sit down and decide what you want. Look up the differences between mech mods and vv/vw mods, see which one suits you better. Then find an RBA to go with it. If you aren't going to be doing crazy triple/quad coil stuff and you want to stay above 1 Ohm coils, a VV/VW mod would be a good choice. The VAMO v3 is a solid place to start and is only $30-60 depending on where you pick it up.

I'd go with a Vamo simply because they work. Brilliantly!

The V3 apparently has a screwable-off collar that will make it easier to use Evods etc.. Could be a good choice.

All I can talk about are my two SS V2 Vamos. One came from the UK (via China) one came from FT. Both work faultlessly.

They just work imho.

Like someone said it's good to look around and get a better idea. I can tell you that I have the Vamo V2 and glad I do. It's a good all around mod. It is pretty solid too. Dropped mine on concrete. Cracked clear plastic lens, but works like nothing has happened. I plan on getting another and us this one as backup. So just do some looking.

I started with the K100 a about 2 weeks ago, I am happy with it. I bought a cheap RBA [Chimbus] and had a 2nd air hole drilled in. After a few days the nerd side / mod bug kicked in and I enlarged the air holes. Now I am looking into upgrading batteries and sub ohm coils. Need more vape lol

if you're looking at mechs/rba's, try the clones. it's a good way to learn about mechs and what features you want out of a higher end mod when you're ready for them.
sentinel clone - fastech
chi clone - akavapers.com
magneto
Pair these with an Igo-l or igo-w and you have yourself a fully functional mech mod for less than $50-$60...

personally, if you stay VV, you can't beat a provari if you're sticking with cartos/clearos. a little limited amp wise, but very solid device. a little on the expensive side tho. evics are pretty good if you like the techy stuff. that's about all i can say on VV's as i've been fully mechanical for the last 6 months...

OK - but you would help a new member on the forum with mech mods and drilling? Really?

You can't go wrong with getting a vamo. Fasttech sells them at a great price. The only problems I've heard of is on the vamo stainless v3 they had a batch with with threads that were being easily stripped, but their return policy is great if you did get a bad one. A quick fix is also to use an adapter to protect the threads but then you can't flush mount.

If you're looking at genny style rba's a smoktech rsst is great. Insulated wick hole, the tank covers the bottom so no exposed bottom cap to a ss wick, and the post has a washer and spring making it easier to work with when learning how to set it up. A vamo will fire this at low resistance 1.3 ohms and above. Pbusardo over at tasteyourjuice.com recommends this one for beginners and has a great review on it.

I started vaping back in February and started off with an eVic. It took a little bit to get used to the variable voltage but once I understood it things went much better. I used a vape power chart from PBusardo's "Taste Your Juice" website and still refer to it on occasion.

But the eVic felt a bit cheaply constructed so I quickly upgraded to a Provari. Yes, I'm a Provari fangirl now. Both mods (eVic and Provari) have pretty much the same features but the construction on the Provari is rock solid and it also includes an additional battery cap so you can use an 18490 or 18650 battery. With the eVic and Provari though you can only run something down to like 1.4ohms. Any lower resistance will give you an error message.

In order to try rebuildables I then went with an Electric Angel mechanical mod combined with an Evolv Kick. The EA and Provari are what I use daily, haven't touched my eVic in some time. YMMV.
