Alright Ladies and Gents, I recently went crazy on e-bay and purchased a bunch of clones (rdas and mechs) just to try different things out since I am new to the dripping game (Love it by BTW). The Tesla DIII, not sure if it is a clone or not, came pretty cheap so I went for it. I brought it to a local vape shop for opinion, which I like to do with all my new vape equipment, because I value the opinions of alot of the local vapers I have come across at these B&Ms. He was interested in it because of the 5 post design (1 Positive Center Post and 4 neg screws in the deck). He attempted to build Quad coils but was finding the center post kept turning on him. He built them but there was some weird firing going on inside the center post hole. He eventually gave up and said to get a refund for shoddy work. I am not one to give up that easy and will tinker until completely useless. I took it home and eventually found that the center post insulator (plastic) was giving way. I accidently pushed too hard at one point and had the center post fall out with little broken plastic pieces that used to be the insulator. ...., I said, now I'm screwed. I tried finding specific replacements to no avail. I did find a youtube video that a user posted, sorry can't remember the name of the youtuber or have a link to the vid, that had a similar issue on an RBA and he used an insulator off an old BVC coil head. I had a revelation. Why not rip apart the useless Atantis BVC coils I have (I do not own an Atlantis and when I first started vaping with my evod and a cheap aspire carto I bought the coils by mistake based on the recommendations of a local Avail store worker with little knowledge of his products) and try the rubbery insulators. The fit was almost perfect. They were about half the size I needed but I used one on the top of the deck and one below, kept them in place as I pushed the positive post through and Voila, I was back in business. The post was sturdy enough to build on and didn't spin! I probably could push it out with some force but I immediately built dual coils to my usual .40 Ohms and I was vaping away!!
This begs the question, anyone out there know where to find good replacement insulators for the positive pin. Also, do the companies tend to use a specific size insulator for there positive pins?
