Los Angeles will be considering an ordinance to prohibit indoor vaping in public places on Monday, 2/24. Let’s reach out to the city council and help them understand why this is harmful:

What is unfortunate is the ECF members who support these bans on vaping.

Ya'know, I've been trying to wrap my head around this very topic all day. I also post the DAP on reddit and encountered at least one person saying they supported the LA Vape Ban. I honestly think it comes from a lack of understanding about the actual ordinance. People seem to think these laws will automatically exempt their favorite vape shop or bar or outdoor public space... absolutely not the case.

And then, there's that "nanny" thing a lot of people have. For whatever reason people can't get past muttering under their breath "there should be a law about that" when something or someone annoys them. Hell, I do it, but it's usually related to people's driving behaviors and there actually are laws about it :)

In any case, thanks for tweeting and thanks for Sharing.

You really don't have to look farther than the current federal administration and the media outlets that support it, to understand that the "nanny state" mentality permeates deeply into society. It was this administration who began the attack on vaping back in 2009. You can provide these "nannified" vapers with the relevant studies supporting the safety of vaping and you will still see them state that until vaping is proven (by who is never specified) over 50 years to be 100% safe, we must treat vaping as the same as smoking. No matter that nothing we consume or use can meet that extreme standard, vaping should meet that impossible level of safety.

It is interesting that a liberal Democratic state senator is proposing legislation to ban the online sales of vaping supplies in California. I have no doubt that their are CA vapers who support this senator and voted for him. Yet they can't make the connection between voting for this level of nanny state activism and this current proposed vaping legislation. Or more likely, they choose to ignore the connection.
