I bought a LostVape Orion two days ago, only to experience a burnt taste today.this may be a stupid question, but could this occurrence have anything to do with
my having switched to the highest Wattage setting(Red) too suddenly?
Hello and welcome to ECF!A refillable pod might last for three or four refills depending on the quality and the wattage used to vape.
Possible errors (Things you might don't do)
  • Fill the pod and let it sit 10 minutes to saturate cotton (when you install a new pod)
  • VG/PG ratio of your juice 50/50,70/30,80/20
  • Avoid 90-100% VG e-liquids due to wicking issues
  • If you have max/full VG juice you can thin it by adding 5-10% distilled water
  • don't chain vape
Cheers!

Ok,thanks:) how long do you think I should wait between drags?the guy at the store where I bought it said 3 seconds would be more than enough
It depends on vg percentage, the higher the vg the longer the "wait" seconds.
3 seconds is chain vaping,i suggest do a bit longer breaks

Given my average draw is about 3 seconds that's almost more continuous vaping than chain vaping. I've never heard of a pod (or tank for that matter) that can tolerate a 3 second break in between all day, or an hour or two when the battery is drained.

To the OP, make sure you fully saturate the coil before use by filling, allowing it to sit 5-10 minutes, and taking some unpowered puffs and then start at the lowest setting and raise it until you're happy with the vape. Pass on the 3 second rule. Give a little more time between draws or at least don't do that for more than 3-4 draws in a row to allow the wick to catch up.

The take away for me on the 0.5 ohm pod is to set the boosts low (I went zero), the watts as low as possible. I went 8/10/13, and use it on 10. The warmth sliding bar set to 6 compensates. So far its lasting longer for me.
Seems the Orion don't do well on higher wattage....go low :thumb:
Any possible way to disassemble the pod for the system?

I haven't and won't ever try. Its properly sealed and even if it is seperated, chances are it'll leak when reassembled....not worth the effort in my opinion. There is a few talks about it earlier in the thread.

I agree with Eskie here. But there are a lot of factors. First- Orion is the hardest hitting, most warm/hot vape I've had from a pod. We don't know your juice, or how many hits and how quickly you're taking them, or how long they are, or your juice makeup. But the 3 second thing? Sounds like it may be bad advice based on nothing, really. Watch any wicking material - would the juice travel the wick and re-saturate at the coil in that amount of time? Juice won't travel that fast on any wick. So it really depends on what you're doing overall.

I mtl, and out of curiosity I experimented on rta rebuilds just to see how quickly I depleted juice at the coil. If I totally saturate a wick & coil (without filling the tank), with my style, on my build at my wattage - at the time it was 50/50 juice - I could take about 4-5 hits over about a minute's time before I can tell it needs more juice on an rta. And an RTA has a lot more wicking material than a tiny compressed pod. So 3 seconds could be fine if you only take a few hits with 3 seconds between, and then have longer rests. But if you take a hit of any size and let it rest only 3 seconds, anything is going to get dry after several hits. I mean, no matter what you're using, you wouldn't be able to take dozens of continuous hits of 5 seconds with 3 second rests- no wick could keep up. But if you're talking about taking a few hits with 3 second rests, it might be fine- depending, again, on the kind of hits you take and the juice.

And no matter what pod you're using, it's probably advisable to start new pods at a lower power level and working your way up. Orion is a nice device - but the pods aren't cheap. I hope you find it works for you!
