LOVE my P10! But... help?

Hi there!

I've had my P10 for a few weeks now, and I love it!

However, I'm having a problem with it as of late. It has progressively gotten more more difficult to press the button on the bottom to get it to fire, and even if I'm pressing it really hard it still doesn't necessarily fire every time. The button used to have the perfect amount of resistance, and it fired every time without fail.

And the battery (I'm using IMR10440's) has started jiggling around in the tube just a *little* bit. It didn't used to do that.

BTW, the O-ring IS in place up at the top of the device against the battery.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong?

How often do you completely take it apart and clean it? I would recommend starting out by giving it a complete soap bath.

The Oring should be at the bottom, underneath the battery, not on top, but i'm thinking you may have meant that, but if not... To insert, start it by hand in the top and just push it all the way down with a battey until it bottoms out on the ledge. It should stay there on it's own. If the oring is on top, it may cause a loose battery as you describe and interfere with proper switch action.

To clean, remove switch, hit the end of the button that contacts the battery with a bit of sandpaper or chemical cleaner (mothers aluminum polish works great for cleaning brass) but a dab of Noalox on it and you are good to go...

Okay, I have not attempted to clean it at all yet, so this is probably the problem.

I will do everything you guys suggested! Off to Home Depot for some Noalox!

And yeah, David - I meant the bottom, LOL. The o-ring is sitting on the ledgie-thingie.

Yup, it sounds like a good cleaning should do the trick. As for the jiggling battery, are you sure that it's in the right way? This happened to me a few days ago after my last cleaning. There was a small amount of rattling inside the main body, but she would still fire. I opened her up and "duh" the battery was backwards. Flipped it around, and she was all back to normal. It's an easy mistake to make and I'm sure that I'm not the only one that's done it.

As far as the looseness then, it's probably pushed in the battery top/bottom a bit since you had to push harder than normal to activate. Just replacing the battery should do the trick...
