LR 306 Question

Maybe more of an atty question. How do you know when an atty's shot? I have an LR306 drip atomizer and the last couple of days, it doesn't seem to be delivering the flavour that it used to. I changed to a fully charged battery and I'm not dripping any new juice, so it's not that, but it just doesn't seem to be doing what it used to. I have ordered some new ones, but I'm not sure how long these things generally last. I got this one from a friend, who had used it previously. I've been vaping on it for about 3 weeks now. What's the normal life for these things?

In my experience, LR (Low Resistance) atomizers are hotter than the standard versions, thus they don't (usually) last as long as the standard atomizers but you can prolong the life of the LR atomizers by not taking many draws in rapid succession. Instead, take a draw or two and let it cool for a bit before taking the next draw. Also, sometimes it's hard to tell if it's the atomizer at fault or if it's the user that is causing the atomizer to have a short lifespan. Either way, their are many variables to considers, such as,

Do you clean your atomizers? if so, how do you clean them and how often?

Is the atomizer modified in any way? does it still have the mesh, bridge, wick, etc?

Is this atomizer just a standard LR? or is it Cisco made, Ikenvape made, etc?

Do you overcharge your batteries? or do you take them out as soon as they are charged?

What device are you using?

For a LR atomizer to last 3 weeks (plus your friend who used it) is pretty good. The range on the LR atomizers can be from a week to a month and sometimes more but rare.

Hope I didn't leave anything out but I would need more information from you to discern the problem.

LRs and especially 306s are not flavor grabber attys. Its my atty of choice but I dont vape fruit, food, or candy juices...just straight tobacco and I like the heat and vapor they provide. As far as their longevity...as mentioned above anywhere to DOA to 3-5 months depending on the quality and how you take care of them. I use Cisco and in rotation the 2 306LRs 1.5Ω are going on 3 months. Remember attys need to be kept WET!!!

Do you clean your atomizers? if so, how do you clean them and how often? - Not really. I blow them out once in a while, but I haven't cleaned it yet.

Is the atomizer modified in any way? does it still have the mesh, bridge, wick, etc? - I haven't done anything to it. It's a drip tip, so there's no filler stuff.

Is this atomizer just a standard LR? or is it Cisco made, Ikenvape made, etc? - no clue, it was a freebie.

Do you overcharge your batteries? or do you take them out as soon as they are charged? - I usually take them off as soon as they're charged.

What device are you using? - An eGo.

So what's a good flavour grabber? I do vape sweet juices - maple, Voodoo, that sort of thing. I don't like the tobacco juices I've tries. I do keep it pretty wet all the time. And I 'm getting the Cisco LR306 from Avid Vaper, which has 3 attys in it.

Others can better answer that question but I hear the 510 2.0Ω is a better atty for flavor or 801 are very popular from what I hear. Adapters are available for your connector if your native isn't an 801 or 901 for that matter. Whatever atty you decide on I suggest the brand Cisco.....my favorite. Atomizers - Avid Vaper

901's are great for flavor imo. Many here on the ECF agree.

Here's what I do when an atomizer isn't producing anymore.

1. Clean it. I boil it for 5-10 minutes. Some say you shouldn't boil it, just pour the boiling water in a cup and soak but I've never had an issue. Then, I put in the oven @ 170 degrees or so for 20 - 30 minutes or so to dry it. I usually wait and do several attys at a time.

2. If that doesn't work I do highping's dry burn method- http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

3. Or, if you've gotten your use out of it, throw it away :)

To clean it, put the atomizer in boiling hot water for 15 minutes, then blow from the connector end to force any extra juice out, and then put it back in the boiling water for 5 minutes. Once this is done, put the atomizer upside down on a paper towel to dry it out or use a hair dryer. Once it is completely dry, add 5-7 drops of juice on top of the mesh/coil and let it soak for 2-4 minutes, and then begin to use. Generally I clean my atomizers after 1 week of use.

On the bottom of the atomizer, do you see anything imprinted? If it's a Cisco made atomizer, it should say something like "Cisco 1.5 ohm" in small letters & numbers. I don't know if Ikenvape imprints anything on their atomizers since I've never tried theirs.

It's a good practice to take the battery off the charger after it is fully charged and never let it fully discharge (meaning, don't make it run out all the way), charge it when it starts to feel weak.

I don't use a eGo so I can't really comment on the device, maybe someone else who uses it can add some addition information.

Also, like "unsure" said, always keep LR atomizers wet since they are hotter than the standard ones. And lastly, what I've said so far is based on my own experience and what I've observed from other users... so take precaution :p.
