just tried a lr 510 cartomizer on my riva and wow this thing is
smells and taste like its burning. ive had burnt tasting cartos
on my v9 but this was bad , major th but in a bad way. im
i doing something wrong? is it maybe because i was using 100%
vg? actually hurt my throat

Cartomizers start to taste funky when they go dry. It could be that there's not enough juice in the cartomizer. I've had some pre-filled cartomizers that weren't filled enough to use. There's a pretty big QC issue in my opinion, since almost everything comes out of China.

Id have said 'too dry' as well - cartos or atties - they dont like to be dry and give off that lovely harsh acrid burny taste - yum! lol
If you have an atty you should never let it dry out, I have killed one that way (because I had too many 'on the go' and it wasnt being used every day). Cartos - well I ended up going back to dripping tbh - I found them more work than dripping and the TH I got from them was too much for me personally.

I use the 510 cartomizer all the time. I think the secret for not having that burnt smell and taste is to let the liquid soak in for a few minutes before you add power to it. If its too dry the first time you fire it up it burns the packing and has that nasty taste and smell for the life of the carto. I was ready to give up on the carto for this same reason until i learned to let it soak for at least 5 to 10 minutes.

I recently received 11 boxes of cartomizers from a certain supplier. I had never ordered cartos from this supplier before. The first four of seven cartos that I filled had the burnt taste, so I decided not to fill any more cartos. I had dripped 25 drops into each carto, got the burnt taste, and then used the condom method to be sure there was liquid at the atomizer ends. Still got the burnt taste, tried vaping them the next day, still got the burnt taste, so I determined those cartos were defective.

I contacted the supplier and was told to return them all for a full refund.

If you're getting a burnt taste after putting at least 25 drops or more into brand new cartos, I'm sure they're defective and should be returned to the supplier for a refund.
