Lots of people post and many stories get told. A battery is an expendable item. I have used my 510 and Ego batts on every type of atomizer available that fits the screw threads, including LR 1.5 ohm attys. One of my original Ego batts is still going from a year ago and the other blew a MOSFET. The one that is remaining has been used extensively on 510 LR and 306 LR with a drip tip.

They will die eventually. It's not a big deal. Yes, the lower the resistance, the more current you draw through the regulator, but to me it's not a big deal. If they die at 9 months instead of a year, I can get a new one for the price of a bottle of juice.

I just ordered a Rive 510 starter kit just for the batteries. Mine are getting old and I need to stock some backup. The batteries were $11.99 at Liberty Flights and the starter kit that contains 2 batts, a charger, 2 attys, a cone, and 5 empty carts was only $29.99 plus $2.98 shipping. It was almost the same price as just two batts, a charger, and shipping. I won't use the 510 attys or the cone, but for the same price, the kit made sense.

The new Riva batts, being 3.7v devices may just be the ticket for better vape and taste. The Ego batts are regulated down to 3.2v or so through the MOSFET regulator.

The ENEMY of mosfet switches is heat. I love the 2.0 ohm cartos on my ego and have yet to have a battery problem in 8months (finding wood to knock on as I type). I DO let my batts rest if I notice them getting warm to the touch so as not to overload the switch. Someone who chanvapes 10 second drags might have a problem but so far I have not seen it personally. As said above if I get 8mos instead of a year out of a battery the trade off is worth it for the better vapor.

The life of a battery basically comes down to the # of charging cycles. LR atties use more power which means you charge more often. It goes without saying that LR can and will result in shorter battery life (in days of use). If I charge twice as often, then the battery has used up its normal expected life in half as many days. If a one charge a day battery will last a year but I charge it twice a day and it lasts 6 months...........have I really lost anything?

In my eyes no. What I have gained however is a warmer more satisfying vapor.
