could you please explane more what you mean has anyone covered this before

the thead title mentions lubricant & sealer also silicone seals

the VG in our juice seems to be great for both lubricating and sealing the seals on tanks and atty
seals etc if thats what you are refering to

Yes to both questions(gadgekeith, bunnykiller). When working with food machinery(CA. Food machinery corp.) and then Siemens med lab. (many years ago) we often used a liquid sealent on different types of seals. This was to done to increase the units ability to seal off any leaks and add longevity to the seal itself. Why am iI looking for a liquid sealant?
1. Many of my tanks sit with ejuice in them. Sometimes for several days.
2. Ordering new silicone seals(saving money/time).
3.creating a better vacumn seal(not leaking when applied properly.

I have "Lubricant & Sealer for silicone seals" as the title on my post(gadgekeith) . I don't believe vegetable glycerin is used as any form of sealer tor O rings.Dont some of these juices have acidic properties? I'm not that hip on juice technology for the ecig. Industry. So maybe I'm off base. Don't know?

Excellent point(bunnykiller). Although the tanks(on or around the glass) do not reach a high temperature for the most part. There are times where they do. How hot or warm? I don't know, but I myself have had a tank that got very warm to the touch. I dIiscontinued from firing immediately(of course). And looked for the issue to this problem.
I however do think there is such a liquid conditioner/sealant which can be applied to new "O rings". Which help the tank from leaks and lengthen the silicone seals use.

i know its a bit off base but many years in the automotive industry

there was a noticable effect that mineral and synthetic oils had on rubber o-rings and seals etc

ie some rubber o-rings would swell and deform due to different cleaning addatives in the newer synthetic oils so more silicone seals and o-rings replaced alot of the older earlier rubber seals due to being more versatile to a wider range of lubricants it seemed

so maybe that helps out on the lurication side as for longevety silicone has not been around as long rubber used in seals and o-rings so yet to stand the test of time like rubber gaskets and seals etc

i do also no that some fuel addatives have a destructive effect on silicone pipes and hoses so maybe some of the acidic fruit flavors may have an effect also

but if thats the case i would sooner replace the seals than add another unknown to my juice the less in it the better i guess

I remember using a lubricant on some of the seals, while working for Siemens. But then that was 30 + years ago. We would wipe the liquid on, leave it a white, then clean off the excess. It added to sealing the two parts together. It wasnt any type of glueing. It just improved the seal(from weathering) and not having to over torque the two parts. It worked great. I would think there would be something for silicone. I tried just vaseline like then wiped it off

Personally I just use VG or whatever e-liquid I'm vaping on seals and orings. I've been doing this for over a year on several tanks and the seals are as good as the day I bought the tanks.

Also...this way there is no concern about transfer of whatever sealer/conditioner you might use from the seal to the juice you are vaping...

Just my opinion based on my personal experience..as always, your mileage may vary!

Something you can look at that I use for my pool gaskets and o rings is something called magic lube. It is non toxic, non-melting (425 degrees F), and waterproof. It does wonders on my pools gaskets. It is teflon based. I will not say it is for our applications but it may be worth looking into. I have not read up on the inhalation effects.

Thanks(bluecat, Boden) . I decided to keep your answers on my note pad. I also contacted Food Machinery Corporation(could be Company) ). For any imput. They bought the company I worked for in 1979-1980.I built peach-pitters for the canneries. They may or may not get back to me. We will see. It doesnt hurt to find a product that works. Especially if it's Cheap.

The reason for this post was I had a subtank leaking. So I took the tank apart and cleaned all the seals. Same again. So I changed them. I have a good knowledge of how seals behave when over tightening. So i didnt believe that was it. It hasn't happened much, so there you go. A light grease of some kind may help or may not.
