Hello e-cig forum! After pulling my hair out trying to find out why i cannot post in the regular forums I found I could post here! Joy!

I have my first mechanical mod in the mail right now, a Lunar Mod, and I was hoping to get some recommendations from mechanical mod users on a good place to look for the correct batteries and charger for this mod.

I would like an 18650, 18500 and 18350 battery and charger, preferably in a kit to bring the price down a bit. I am going to be using the lunar with an aspire nautilus to start with and then upgrade to a RBA/rda in the future.

Any recommendation on where to look for such a kit, or possibly a link to a good one that e-cig forum users trust?

Thanks!

For the Aspire any battery will do. When I started I used efest and all was good. I recently tried vapin donuts in my RDA and ended up with a .9 ohm resistance. It should have been OK with the efest but I got a 30 Amp Sony just to have more of a safety margin.

The bottom line is that until you start building your own coils and go below 1 ohm just about any battery will do. Except that batteries with fire in the name have a bad reputation.

I get my stuff, when they have it, in a local B&M store. Most stuff cost a little more but they offer great service and it is real nice to have someone who knows more than me help as I learn.

Is this the mod you bought?

Looks like a great first choice.

Personally, would not get any batteries other than 18650's for a mech. Mainly because the have the most available power and continuous amps. Get a good 30-35 amp continuous IMR battery, not only much, much safer, but get a longer and better sustained vape.

I use Sony VTC4's and 35 amp Efest Purple 186650's. The VTC5's are also decent, but weren't out when I bought mine. A good quality charger is a must. I have both the Xstar VP1 and the Efest LUC V4. Both have real time voltage meters, that help one monitor batt health and condition. The Xstar is better, but got the Efest to charge my 26650 batts, does hold 4 18650's and has a usb port for charging via usb.

Do find that the efest does slightly over charge the batteries up to 4.25 volts. When I put the slightly overcharged batts into the Xstar, it won't read them, because it's outside of the Xstar's safety parameters, that's how good the Xstar is, but love them both. I can charge up to 6 batts at once. lmao. yeah never thought I'd need to, but have done it once or twice. lmao.

Thanks for all the replies!

Yes, that is the Lunar mod that I purchased. Beautiful looking piece of work, and I hear it's a very solid performer as well!

I ended up getting a pair of sony VTR4 18650's and a NiteCore I4 charger. =)

About the Nautilus not fitting, I heard this from someone on MassDrop where I got in on the group buy for the Lunar Mod, which was ~$99.. so I guess that's out of the picture.

I've decided to go the tried n' true route and get a Pyrex RSST Genesis atomizer since there seems to be a strong consensus on the quality of that atty amongst vapers. Next stop will likely be a Kraken with the brass covering, as it will be a good chance to dip into dual-coils after mastering the single.. and also the mental image of how amazing the brass and stainless steel of the Kraken will look with the Lunar Mod has me itching to make this a reality.

I have my trusty multimeter close at hand and am ready to fully abide by OHM's law, so no worries on safety here, guys =)

I'll report back with how everything works out, though it may be a while as I don't have nearly all of this together yet, but it's shaping up nicely I think. :toast:

Thanks again for the helpful comments and feedback! I'm 1 and 1/2 years cigarette free, and enjoying every minute of it!
