I'm noticing that on my Maraxus clone it doesn't always fire either, no matter which topper I have on it. I need to check the bottom switch, because I have found that if I wiggle it around while firing, it will fire. I think it doesn't always make contact right unless I hit the fire button in certain positions.

A lot of times it won't fire at all until I find it's sweet spot. I don't know the brand of mine, but I don't think it was as well made as some clones.

So for anyone who googles this. I did find a fix eventually. The Kraken and the Maraxus don't play well together so I ended up replacing it with a Kayfun 3.1. It hits like my dad and is wonderful.

Mine hits wonderfully with the Kayfun too, but my button is wonky no matter what is on top. I should try my Kraken on there just to see if mine works with the Kraken. I love the Kayfun so much that I hate to use anything else except my Nimbus any more though.

If the mech mod has a bottom button, I have found the screw inside the button that holds the spring in place loosens up with use. One of the draw backs of bottom buttons. If you can take the mech apart just above the button, see if the retaining screw is loose. Hand tighten it and you are back in business. You can also tell when the screw is loose if you start feeling like the button action is not smooth.
