Hello everyone. I got the m201 last week and I love it. I just have some questions:

1. I have the manual battery, is it supposed to stay on as long as I push the button, or does it have a built-in cut-off? And if not, why might mine be cutting off?

2. Probably a stupid question, but what the hell: the atty has the metal looking bridge on top. Is that the wick? How can metal be a wick? It seems like my filler gets snagged on that sometimes...

Any other little tips or info on the 201 is welcome. Thank you for being so helpful all the time.

2. I'm terrified of ruining the attys. I plan on using the baking soda/vinegar method to clean them, but what, in particular, will kill attys? I fear using liquids b/c I feel like it's similar to mixing water w/electronics=shorting out circuitry, although I know it's not exactly electronic. I hear alcohol is bad, but if liquid is ok, why is alcohol bad? And dry burning—why is that bad? I have just been blowing them out so far, but it's a pretty long atty...

3. My quality of getting "good hits" are intermittent. (It probably has something to do w/the atty and may be answered by the above question.)Any thoughts on why?

Never seen one but many ecigs have a safety cutoff - some allow longer drags than others. Some cut off just long enough to flash, some cut of 10-30 seconds before you can vape again.

Re bridge - the bridge is metal mesh. The little fiber wick in/on the bridge is what brings juice from the cart to the coil. The bridge is just what pushes the wick into the cartridge's stuffing.

Hi, 333 and welcome!

Are you sure it's a m201 and not a m401? Never seen a m201, but I have the m402 and the Joye 510.

The m401 I believe has a 7 second cutoff, even on the manual battery model.
My m402 has a 5 second cutoff (automatic battery) and my 510 manual has no cutoff
(that's why I killed my battery while dry-burning my atty -which you're not supposed to do with the regular short batteries anyway; yeah, I'm dumb, lol)

Anyways, yeah, the bridge, like dormouse said, is a woven thin metal mesh encapsulating a fiber wick which wicks (really?) the juice down and through the coil.
The mesh on the bridge does have the tendency to snag the fiberfill in the carts. I just singe the top of the filler with a lighter (still have one of those?) and it seems to help.

Good luck!

Thank you for your responses. Good info I'll keep. I may have to dig, but I'm sure I can find a lighter somewhere. lol Great idea on singe-ing the filler. Yes, it's a m201 - a penstyle. I just purchased it from myfreedomsmokes for a mere $30. I do believe it is similar to the 401 though. I may have to mod it a bit by using a compatible batt. I love the big atty, I just wish the batt was a bit hotter or didn't have a cut-off. With the easier draws, I have to take longer ones, and the cut-off and pause just kills that. I'm always so happy with the help this forum offers. Thanks again!
