In average, what is the battery life of this unit? I've seen lots of info about time between charges, etc., but nothing to give me an idea of how long (days, months, years) it will last before it's time for a new one.

What's the appropriate method of the battery when it is dead? Our school has a collection box for recycling batteries, but they only accept regular batteries. The only thing I know about batteries is not to just throw them in the trash.

I've only been at this for a week and have already had 2 batts go bad on me! Luckily, replacements are on the way.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I've been vaping almost 100 days now and still have my original batteries. Some may be on their way out but are still working.

I'm a bit OCD and wipe the threads all the time and run a Q-tip in the batt hole to get any excess juice. I also top them off on a regular basis. Contrary to old nickel batteries it's better to top off Li-ion batts before they are completely dead; this will prolong their life.

As for recycling I don't know but would think any batt recycling center should do the trick...

I'd drop them anywhere that accepted a mix of batteries- most cell phone stores for example only accept phone batteries, many stores except only standard alkaline types, but some accept any and all, and I'd include e-cig batteries in that.

Most people seem to say that stock rechargeable e-cig batteries are good for their stated 200-300 charge cycles, or around 18 months (whichever comes first). Of course, that's really just when the power is going to start dropping off, so if it's just not doing as well as you'd like, maybe it's a good idea to throw it in the junk drawer as a backup/spare in case you lose/break your primary.

There really is no set time limit on how long the batteries will last. I have some that I've had from the beginning that still work and I have others that worked a couple of weeks.

Hang on to your old batts. Check the classified section now and then. People want old batts all the time for modding. Who knows, you might actually make a little money off them or perhaps get a one of a kind mod.
