Normally I buy E-juice with PG 80%/20% VG
This was my personal favourite.

I made my first E-juice a week ago.
I have used Vanilla classic flavor with 3% and the flavor is 100% PG based.

I have mixed:
PG 80%/20% VG
PG 60%/40% VG
PG 50%/50% VG

I cough from all of them. I have steeped them too.
Since I normally buy a E-juice with 80% PG, I shouldn't be coughing from a 50% PG.
It's not because of the throat hit, I just cough for some reason. The first drag I take after a moment from last time I took a drag, I cough. When I vape some more, it's ok. If I then wait 20 minutes, and take a drag I cough again.

I don't use any nicotine.
This is where I bought my stuff.

PG
1000ml 1L MPG Propylene glycol USP/EP 99+% Pharmaceutical grade!superb quality | eBay

VG
1L 1000ml GLYCEROL,GLYCERINE-food &cosmetic use USP/ VG vegetable e-cigarette | eBay

Flavor
Vanilla Classic

I use a iStick 50 watt and vape on 10-15 Watt. I cough on all of them.
I use a Aspire Nautilus mini tank.

I'm really frustrated since every combinations I do, I cough. I'm trying to quit smoking, and i didn't smoke for one month, but after I started to make my E-juice, I started to smoke again, since I cannot vape the E-juice I make.

Please, help!

Since your links were removed I can't see the exact listing on eBay or the flavoring you used.

Is the "Vanilla Classic" flavor by a specific company, such that I could Google it and find it myself? You shouldn't be coughing.. If I had to gander a blind guess, I'd say it's something to do with your flavoring.

I'd advise not vaping it (if it's making you cough) until we can clarify what the situation is.

If you search this on youtube:
UPDATED How To Mix & Make Your Own E Juice Liquid DIY (TAKE 2)

He has links on the PG and the VG in the description.

For the flavor, the company name is ''Light your fire''
It's a swedish company so I suggest you translate the page with you web browser.

No Way you should be coughing from that. I strongly suggest you stop vaping it until you find out what's going on. Is this your first DIY? What commercial liquids were you vaping that you did not cough from? Do a forum search for coughing from DYI. there's some great links in there on how to run tests on what's causing this. And till you get it figured out, please go back to commercial liquids and stay off the cancer sticks as we want everyone possible of the damn things

Hmm, so the flavoring seems legit enough (although I'd recommend buying from a place like TFA or WizardLabs) so I don't think it's the flavoring causing the harshness. It's possible it's something wrong with the VG/PG..

Here's a suggestion: Try just vaping the base alone, with no flavoring. Separately: Try the VG first, and then try the PG.

My next question would be the Aspire Nautilus coil -- what ohms is it, and when's the last time you replaced it?

And till you get it figured out, please go back to commercial liquids and stay off the cancer sticks.

I don't think OP is a smoker, as she [I assume it's a she] mentioned her juice is 0-nic, although I still agree with this sentiment: Until we figure out what the problem is, I can't say I'd recommend vaping it.

The one I cough from is the one I make. I have written all the compinations that I made in my previous post. I cough from all of them.
I'm making a E-juice now without the flavor, to see if I still cough. If I don't cough now, I will put the flavor in the trash.
Before I was making E-juice, I bought from a company named ''Hangsen''
I asked the staff what ratio they used, and it was PG 80%/20% VG. And I didn't cough from that at all. It was actually perfect. And now, when I make the E-juice I cough from a 50% PG and only 3% flavor.

Try to narrow it down to eliminate each ingredient. Try vaping pure VG, then pure PG and so on. I agree that it's probably the flavoring but you won't know until you eliminate things one by one.

ETA, you guys beat me to it:)
I tried 100% PG now. I don't cough that much. It's much better now, I probably cough because the is still some flavor in the coil, and I waiting for some new coils in the mail.

Hmm.. do your flavors contain diketones?

Its been found, actually, that almost all flavorings have some form of diketones in them. It's naturally occuring, not added specifically to the juice, and if there's a vanilla flavor there are diketones naturally creating that aroma/flavor, and as far as I'm aware it's not usually something that people are specifically sensitive to.

Huh! So I guess it's the flavoring. Yeah, I have never heard of the "Light Your Fire" flavoring company. You should check out the DIY e-liquid forum, they have tons of sources for fantastic flavorings, both in terms of their taste and their cleanliness.

I'm a smoker. I just did it without nicotine. My parents had a EGO without nicotine. I tried it. The first 5 days was ruff, but it worked. Then I ordered PG, VG and flavor to make them myself.

I tried to buy from the companies that had good reviews, but they didn't ship to Norway. So I tried ''Light your fire'' and I will never order from the again. I still need to try out the PG and the VG to be sure that the flavor is the problem.

Yes, I did it the hard way. I did actually fine for a month, but when I couldn't vape, and started smoking again. I still think I would be smoke free, it t wasn't for the coughing problem.

I quit smoking many times, One month is easy after the first week. Staying quit is hard. Been smoke free since the first of this year but I use nic in my vape, down to 5-6 mg level now and will likely stay there.

One of the things they recommend on the search is to vape small amount of the pure PG, a small amount of the pure VG and see if you have any reactions to those. if not definitely could be the vanilla. Personally, I would never buy any juice ingredients off eBay for any reason. Spend a little more and get them from a reputable US lab or supplier. At least then you got a reasonable Assurance of purity.

The PG and VG was recommened from a guy on youtube that doesn't have any problems with it. So I thought it was good.
The flavor, is likely the problem. I still cough sometimes when I vape the PG or the VG, but I think it's because it's still some flavor in the coil.
