hey all, I decided to give a DIY mod a try. I am built the madvapes 5v box mod and have a few questions.

I got it all together and here is what happens. I am using a dual coil carto, two ultrafire batteries, when i hit the button, it works and the LED is Red. After about 3 seconds, the LED turns Green, then about a second later, the mod shuts off?

I am assuming it is a battery cutoff, but it seems odd it only makes it a couple seconds with fully charged batteries? Also, I do not have a cap installed that is shown in the instructions here, MadVapes e-Cig 'How To' Tutorials • View topic - My 3xAA 5v Box Mod since it didn't come with the kit. How big of a difference does this make? Thanks for any help,

Brew

Nope, wide open. here is a pic, tough to actually see what I did though,

Other pic is a modified drawing from the instructions. I did not use the cap (didn't have one) that was shown, and I did all my grounds a little different.

i purchased this mod and havnt put it together yet because they forgot to give me the circuit board. However, according to their wiring schematic, im not sure i have all the other parts. Im relativly new to modding and electronics but i can solder and stuff like that. Heres what i recieved. The led, switch, and atty connecter i can handle but the other two little electric pieces dont seem so fit with their schematic or brews schematic. heres a pic of what i recieved.

looks like you have everything except the board. The two small things are resistors, one goes inline on the positive leg of the led (the positive side will be a little longer than the negative), and the other is soldered to the board. They are shown in the instruction page. Only thing you won't have that is shown is the capacitor. This isn't needed, but not a bad idea. They don't supply one in the kit, but easy enough to plop on later if you so desire. Just an FYI, mine has been working great since I built it, and has been my go to PV since.

yup. I tried originally with 1.5 ohm ones, and that was too much for it. So I have been using 3.2 ohm ones with no problems. Except for a burnt taste in the carto after a few days. Not sure what causes it, but I don't think it is any fault of the PV at all.

BUT, I did add the capacitor that is shown in the instructions, and since then, I can use the 1.5ohm cartos now? Not sure I should actually use them, but I do really like the amount and temp of the vapor though. :)

send one to me brew ;) haha got mine all together and it acts just like yours (probably because i followed your diagram). my carto is a mega dual coil from madvapes as well. which has two 3.2 coils giving total resistance at 1.6. however, one of my 14500's was drained due to all day use so i dont know if this is a factor as well. but either way, will the capasitor shown in their diagram fix this issue?
