Mad Vapes VV Box Mod (Variable Voltage) Review - YouTube

In this review I also bring up a minor problem I have had with this mod. If I try to use any of my LED clearomizers the mod shuts down and won't work at all until I take the batteries out and let it sit for 10 min.

Otherwise it's really an amazing mod for the price (less than $40)

Anyone know anything about this problem?

Nice review. I don't think the LEDs should have an effect on it since they draw such little current. Maybe if the clearomizer is a lower resistance the battery protection is kicking in. Then after they sit for 10 minutes they reset. I'd try it on the lowest voltage and see if the problem persists. Then gradually ramp up the voltage and see if/when the problem occurs. I don't think there's any overcurrent protection built-in on the box.

Thanks for the advice, you are right that the re-set isn't really 10 min. Based on what yo have told me I tried you method (starting at the lowest then slowly moving up) I have determined that there are at least three things that won't work at all with my madvapes VV box (I've tried all voltage levels it just shouts down) They are:

- Vision mega carto with LED (but the smaller visions carto with LED works??)
- My tank cartomizer with a 2.0 ohm cart.
- My vapor4life cartomizer on a 510 to 901 adapter

All of these things cause it to shut off.

Maybe I should return it? If other people have units that work with these things I don't know why I'm having this issue.

AW IMR batteries are generally considered to be excellent. They're red with black writing. They're a different chemistry than the Lithium Ion batteries that you're probably using. Because of that they can put out higher current without danger of meltdown or overheating and so don't require a protection circuit. They were recommended for the VV LavaTube that I just bought because even though they are 3.7V (4.2V freshly charged) they can put out the extra current to be ramped up to 6V. It's a single 18650. They're working great so far. I tried using a blue Trustfire 18650 and it works as long as I don't try to set the device higher than the actual voltage of the battery. But what fun is that?
I had checked the Madvapes site for them but didn't see them. I ended up at SupertTManufacturing to get them. Best wishes!

This might not be whats happening in your case but I've had problems with 510 connectors from madvapes before. The 510 connector on the mod would occasionally cause a short and the mod would stop working due to having protection built in. One way to check for this is to get out a multimeter and test the ohms from the inside of the box when you have your atty/carto screwed on. I also found that if I applied some sideways pressure to the atomizer while vaping the short would go away and the atty would work. You wouldn't want to do this all the time but at least it lets you know whats going on. Anyway.. I've been thinking about getting one of madvapes VV mods so I really enjoyed your review. Thanks for sharing your experience.
